Sternhauser
The above photo is of a king crab. It is a water-dweller. This is a coconut crab. Land-based and far creepier. It is a little-known scientific fact that coconut crabs progress from living in smaller garbage cans to ever larger garbage cans as they grow. Unsubstantiated claims have sometimes been made concerning dumpster-sized coconut crabs infesting the more remote Pacific islands, such as Vanua Vatu. Crabs of unusual size? I don't believe they exist. ~Sternhauser Edited October 24, 2009 by Sternhauser

Sternhauser
Oh for sure, that crab would definitely not be on my paradise island, unless I lived in a tree house and had machine gun.
Coconut crabs can climb trees. And you've got to sleep sometime. And they're very quiet. You can only hear the oh-so-faint "schick-schick" of them wetting their primordial lungs when they're already right next to your ear. ~Sternhauser Edited October 24, 2009 by Sternhauser
