Television Proposals/Engagements

Mrs. Bro. Adam

When a guy proposes to his girlfriend on telebvision, is it cutey-wootsie, or is it just plain tacky?

That's what I've always thought....it doesn't really give the woman much chance or opportunity to say no without looking like this horrible, horrible person!

Mary's Knight, La

as the apparantly lone dissenter here let me qualify my vote by saying a lot of planning has to go into it and only if she'd be ok with it

my fiance would have loved it if i had

If for whatever reason, I was to discern a call to marriage instead of the priesthood, this is what I would do.

I would take my girlfriend to Notre Dame on a non-football weekend. We would make a pilgrimage to the Basillica of the Sacred Heart and I would explain to her how I used to sit on one side of the basillica before communion so I could look at Mary's Immaculate Heart and then move to the other side after communion so I could see Jesus' Sacred Heart. Then I would take her to the Grotto of Lourdes. I would light three Candles, one for the Sacred Heart of Jesus, One for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and One for the heart of my true love. I would then get on my knee and say "It was in this place that I gave my heart to Mary, and I asked her to guard it for me and tend it, and help it to grow in love for her Son so that if I was ever to fall in Love my heart would be ready to love fully. Today I ask my Mother Mary to offer my heart to you. Will you marry me?"

Ok, yes, I've thought about this a lot. I'm a romantic, what can I say?

Mary's Knight, La,

You'd probably be one of the few!!!

I don't know....I just think that it takes away from the intimacy of the moment...but that's just what I think!
