kafka
I think this verse from the epistle of Peter can refer to the Rapture people misinterpreting that verse of Paul Thessolonians since Scripture transcends Time and Place: {3:15} And let the longsuffering of our Lord be considered salvation, as also our most beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, {3:16} just as he also spoke in all of his epistles about these things. In these, there are certain things which are difficult to understand, which the unlearned and the unsteady distort, as they also do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Every time I hear someone claiming to know when the end of time will be, I wonder how they explain the contradiction of knowing when the Bible claims no one knows but the Father in heaven. CatherineM
I think the saddest end of the world group were those kids deluded into thinking if they committed suicide they'd be taken away on an approaching comet.
Guest papa.ritzi
Hey guys I did some research into this rapture theory. It is close to futurism and preterism. Francisco de Ribera, S.J. (1537-1591) and Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, S.J. (1542-1621), Jesuit priests started the futurism and preterism. The rapture theory was then made alongside the futurism later. Spanish Jesuit priest, Lacunza did have great influence on the so called rapture. This "secret rapture" was promoted by Irving claiming he, too, had heard a "voice" from heaven commanding him to teach it. (Some modern researchers submit that Irving's speculations of the "rapture were influenced by the Spanish Jesuit priest, Lacunza whose book Irving had translated in 1827 under the title, The coming of the Messiah in Glory and Majesty) The funny part is most of so called Protestantism accept these ideas, even if these things didn't even start within their Bible. AudreyGrace
all I can say is Rapture Schmapture. Just be ready, pray, all that jazz. It's not our affair, it's God's. "Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil." - Matthew 6:34 By trying to figure out the end of the world, we're trying to be like God. I know of someone who wanted to be like God... look where he ended up. No thanks.

MeteorShower
Don't end world!!!! I haven't got out of high school yet On a more serious note, I basically agree with what everyone else is saying. I don't believe any of these claims or predictions - wasn't the world supposed to end in 2000 as well?
Hinter dem Horizont
Has anyone heard about this claim that the world will end on May 21, 2011? It's the bogus claim put forth by Family Radio and some of its "Christian" talk show hosts. The sad part is that proponents of this belief are not pursuing education or careers since the world is about to end. Even their little children are told all about it.
There have been over 250 official predictions of the end of the world. Humans should give up already. Only God knows.
