I doubt that any publisher would want book sales to drop so low. :D

Sorry, but the ratings for the show really did collapse near the end. When Univision gets higher ratings you know you are in trouble.

Bad ratings? I liked the show. It was pretty consistent. As per books, there is actually a series out there based on the concept.

That's back when there were only 3 channels to cut up the pie.

The books are way different than the show was.

How do they get these reviews, anyway? I mean... maybe the finale of lost was a lower rating because everyone got together with friends to watch it... meaning fewer TV receptions on that channel because there are 5-6 people per TV

That's what we did with the final M*A*S*H episode. We had everclear punch from martini glasses and dressed in fatigues or scrubs. We even inflated surgical gloves as balloons. I think we had 20 over. To be honest, a lot of the party is a blank for some reason.

The rating number is the percentage of households watching a TV show, so in the case of Flashforward 1.4% of all American households with a TV watched the final episode of that program. M*A*S*H - for its final episode - had a 60.2 rating and a 77% share of the audience watching TV when it was broadcast, meaning that 60.2% of all American households with a TV were watching M*A*S*H's final episode, while the share means that 77% of all TVs that were turned on at the time were watching CBS.

but you also have to take into account that when mash aired there was no real cable tv. there were 4 channles. now there are over 1000 channels. the household precentage will never be as high as mash except for superbowls.

The top ten shows for the big three networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) during the 1970s usually got a rating number between 30 and 40, which fell during the 1980s to between 25 and 35. During the 1990s the top ten shows of the big three networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC), with the addition of the fledgling FOX network, usually got a rating number between 20 and 25, but in the late 1990s and throughout the 2000s the four major broadcast networks have seen their ratings collapse, so that now the broadcast networks are lucky if even one or two of their shows can get a rating of 10 or slightly higher. In fact, during just the last year the three older networks lost audience (around 20%), while FOX barely maintained its audience level from the 2008-2009 season.

Cable networks have also been unable to get consistently high ratings (the highest rated cable program - usually a sporting event or Sponge Bob episode - would not even make it into the top twenty-five list of the broadcast networks), and viewership in general (for both broadcast and cable TV) is down.
