cmotherofpirl
I moved this to the vocations board since you are more likely to get the answer here, and it isn't a debate. Welcome to phatmass phamily

By His Grace Alone
Are you interested in an active apostolate or a contemplative order? The Tyburn Benedictines are in London for a start, but they are cloistered.
littlesister
The Little Sisters of the Poor have two places in London. Inquiries are always welcome. (Granted, I'm prejudiced.)

Digitaldame
i want to discern with a good religious catholic communty in the uk. are there any good ones you can recommend.
Can I suggest three places where you might begin your search on the web? 1. The UK National Vocation Office gives guidance on the different types of religious life and gives links to some communities thought particularly helpful/useful. UK National Vocation Office. 2. There is also a list of some of the more orthodox or "traditional" UK communities, both active and contemplative, here. (Not that I mean to imply other communities are not orthodox or traditional, it's just that it isn't always quite so obvious with some as with others.) 3. Deoestgloria's lists are fairly comprehensive. For example, see the list of Benedictines here. The fact that the community to which I belong is listed on all three is, of course, entirely coincidental! Seriously, we will keep you in our prayers. You can be quite sure that God will lead you though there may be some surprises and perhaps set-backs on the way.
babygirl
Well i am looking for community that a bit comtemplative and active-made connect with the francisan sisters of the immanculate, they are really cool and humble. But I wonder why these communities outside the uk are flourishing with loads of vocations to the point of putting up new buildings, while in the uk they are struggling to even get one postulant a year. We need to get the links section of the group built up, but with all that's going on in my life, I've not had the time. (Mom just moved to nursing home--she's slowly dying of an inoperable brain tumor). There are other Brits and Europeans on the list, and the vocations crisis you've just described is one thing that we're trying to figure out. humbleheart
Well i am looking for community that a bit comtemplative and active-made connect with the francisan sisters of the immanculate, they are really cool and humble.
Hello babygirl, Roughly ten per cent of Britain's population is Catholic, which sounds like a lot until you remember that this figure includes nominal Catholics and church-twice-a-year-Catholics. The number of practising Catholics on the Continent is much higher, which at least partially accounts for the flourishing convents and monasteries in traditionally Catholic countries such as Poland. In any case, try not to think about why other people are not responding to God's call in their lives. It's rarely productive. Just be sure that you answer yours. I suggest you take a look at the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham, the Sisters of the Gospel of Life, the Franciscan Sisters Minoress, and the Corpus Christi Carmelites. All of them have websites. (I would dig out the links for you, but I am very tired tonight and my computer is extremely slow.) God bless and good luck.
