Protestant = Modern Day Pharisees

i watched Brother Bob and thought the same thing. but i would just say that protestant doctrine seems to parallel doctrine of the pharisees, just to throw them off because sometimes they try to call our Church in line with the Pharisees when in fact, they have more parallels. ;)
Historically, sadly, it has been. It is only in the past few years that Catholics engaged at all with Protestants without tossing some Anathema curse at us.
Not much to contrast then with Protestantism which was actually founded on religious intolerance. Of course, Protestants have no central authority and don't claim infallible truth, only Biblical relativism.

Or Canon Law nitpickers, grin.

Of course, Canon Law, Vatican style, makes the IRS codes seem like child's play by comparison.
can't finish what you started eh?

sorry, that was mean, but it's interesting when the victimizer tries to become the victim.
This wasn't quite what I had in mind either. :huh:

In reparation for sins against the Sacred Heart of Jesus, every time we break the hearts of our brothers and sisters with our harsh words, please pray with me: Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Patrick Madrid in Search and Rescue suggests for every hour you try to convert someone, spend an hour before Jesus explaining why.

Actually, the Head of all the Protestant churches is the same person as the head of the Catholic Church.

but the earthly stewardship is changed. The Scriptures speak of a Messiah who would create a New Davidic Kingdom 2 Sam. 7:16; Psalm 89:3-4; 1 Chron.17:12,14 with ONE earthly steward over it. Ezek. 37:24-25

the Davidic Kingdom has for it God as its supreme ruler (Jesus), A representitive of the King with keys to bind and loose Isaiah 22:22, the Mother of the King sitting beside the King as Queen Neh. 2:6... and the parallels go on and on. do a serious study of how the Davidic kingdom functioned and you will see how the Church is to function. :) :cool:

True enough - unfortunately Protestants don't usulaly realize that. Unity is almost considered sin in Protestantism

WHAAAAAAAT??!?!?!

I'm appalled at you guys. I came here, a non-Catholic Christian, mostly reading, wanting to learn more and consider becoming Catholic. Initially people were very nice and very welcoming, but I guess after the effect of Easter has worn off, it doesn't take long to take stabs at your Christian brothers.
I know there are Protestants who say the same things you are saying right now about them. By saying the same things, you are perpetuating this awful cycle of hatred that has plagued our faith since the 1500s.

I no longer wish to be a part of such a hateful community. Goodbye Phatmass.

Lol this was a pretty bad topic that came about during my lenten "break from Pm" and this should have stayed in the Alley because it really is appauling and embarrassing. This response isn't really surprising either. Any of us (Catholics), especially in America, could have easily been born Protestant, and I'm not talking about all the converts. Pharisee is more than just "sola Torah" issue, they also are called children of the Devil in the Gospel of John, and they are who eventually turned over Jesus to be killed. This is really horrible.
