rachael
I have no clue what I want to do for a living. I just know I want to work with people. I've been told I'm quite good at it. Oh, I still want to get my master's in international relations.
Winchester
There's firefighter exchange programs--one I recently heard about is a swap with an Australian firefighter for a year. I mentioned it to the wife, who was willing, but a year is a long time. I reckon the more education you've got, along with being in a large department, the more likey you would be to get picked. And certified experienced firefighters can often find stations to crash at while taking trips. If you decide to do it for a living, I'd find a big department--better retirement than the smaller ones, among other benefits (like not having THE chief working at your fire station. I had a side job like that. Yeesh).
rachael
Yeesh. My supervisor is the President. It's 'election time' right now, and there is a lot of politics and general BS going on. He's running for Chief at the moment...I kind of hope he gets it. As for further training, I do not know what I want to do. My company is rather small, but we do operate one of the hazmat trucks, AKA 'The Beast', and they wanted me to get trained further on it. I will have to see, because hazmat seems pretty interesting. Winchester
May as well try it. I found I liked truck work the best and I've no interest in HazMat, ARRF heavey rescue or anything else that involves wearing cargo pants. Everything's much better until the pumper comes in and screws it up.
