so thats a no. well poo. i was looking forward to that. <_<

and i was wondering, lets say i did become catholic and went to confession, would i have to remembers all the various sins i have commited in the past 21 years? I'm pretty sure that priest would have to eat drink and sleep at some point before that was over.

Well technically if you've been baptised in the Trinitarian Formula (Which I would think would be the case in the Church of Christ) it would be more like since you were baptised for the various sins. I felt the same way about my First Confession and despite typing out a three page list (covering between my baptism and then), it was over in like 15 minutes.

And all you have to do is your best to remember, Nick. I like to add at the end, "For these, and any sins I might have forgotten, I am truly sorry." As long as you try to remember everything and don't purposely hide anything, it's fine.

Anyone had a priest laugh at you during confession?

Yep, a day I had to go into a crawlspace at the house beforehand. That crawlspace has terrified me since I was old enough to stand and some mail fell into it...

The new priest in residence laughed when I told him about it and went, "and that Fr. is why I have to confess taking the Lord's name in vain many many times in the past hour".

Edit: I got that mail out.

I, at first, interpreted the mail falling into it as the source of your fear.

ugghh, crawlspaces smell of elderberries. worst job i had was going underneath this guys house and removing(and replacing!) old fiberglass insulation, that his cats had destroyed. the ceiling was at times as low as 2 inches above my face if i was lying flat. was under there for 5 hours. parts of his house were supported by stacks of flat rock. ugggh, so confining and itchy, spiders, eeeeeeeehhh.

thankfully i had my music playing so i could just stop and listen for short breaks, keep the sanity.

Oh, I've been there, Missy. Just make sure that you keep going back. I know that I often struggle with avoiding confession when I need to confess the same sin. Just go; you know that you feel so much better AFTER confession than before. Going to confession is like skydiving: you may not like jumping out of the plane, but you just jump, and trust that it will all be OK in the end.

Missy,

I can honestly say that I have been to confession at least a 1,000 times in my short life.

Sometimes I go more than once a week. It's 'cos I'm in a constant spiritual battle with the devil. Going to confession gives me the grace to keep the fight up and not back down.

Last week, I went to confession, even when I wasn't particular sorry for my sins. By the time I confessed, I was bawling. You see, God sees our struggles, and He knows our hearts better than we do. He was inspiring me to go, even when I felt like I shouldn't (because we need to be sorry for our sins.) But taking that step, Our Lord saw it fit to give me the grace to actually experience true contrition and sorrow for my sins. Knowing that it is actually Jesus I am speaking to puts me at ease...no matter how embarrassing our sins can be. And knowing that at the words of absolution, Our Lord washes our souls in His Blood gives me the gratitude and the strength I need to "go and sin no more..."

Next to Holy Communion, I couldn't live without Confession...thank God for these beautiful Sacraments!

Ouch--burned twice! :( Do you elect to have that, or is it something you have to do for work? Good for you, though--if I knew my priest was watching where I went online, I'd definitely be more...selective.

My confession today began like this:: "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned; it has been two days since my last confession."
[/quote]

i hate when that happens :(

then the next time i go and have to say "it's been 3 days since my last confession, i feel extra lame again for having to go 3 times in 5 days.
