EcceNovaFacioOmni
In my search for the answer, I have come across two conflicting Catholic views on whether Christ didn't actually know when the end would come, or whether he just chose not to reveal it. This is from EWTN:
Again, in Mark 13:32 He Himself said He did not know the day of the end. Pope St. Gregory the Great solves this problem by saying that He knew the day in His humanity, but not from His humanity. That is, in our terms, the information did register on His human mind, even though His humanity was not the source of that information.
However, a Douay-Rheims Bible footnote says this:
13:32 But of that day or hour no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father. Note Nor the Son. . .Not that the Son of God is absolutely ignorant of the day of judgment, but that he knoweth it not, as our teacher; that is, he knoweth it not so as to teach it to us, as not being expedient.
Futhermore, the Harvard Theological Review (Volume 96, Issue 3), contains an article entitled "Christus Nesciens ? Was Christ Ignorant Of The Day Of Judgment?" (If you have a working link to this article, please post it!), in which Augustine and Hilary of Poitiers insist he DID know the last hour (in a debate with Arians), but didn't want to reveal it, by pointing a specific verse in the Acts of the Apostles. Any further information is greatly needed!
cmotherofpirl
Jesus is the God-man. His divine nature, which is in control of His human nature, knows everything. However the divine nature did not have to reveal then end of time to the human nature.
EcceNovaFacioOmni
Still a little confusing though, because it is apparent at other times that His human nature DOES know the last hour, but in Mark 13:32 he seems to deny it. He answered them, "It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority. Acts 1:7 In this verse, it appears His human nature knows the last hour, but choses not to reveal it. Again in Luke 21 & Matthew 24, it appears Jesus' human nature knows the last hour. Not to mention the loads of other verses that show he is all-knowing.
