If a dog gets in, the sanctuary has to be consecrated all over again. Besides the Theotokos, the only other female allowed on Mt. Athos are female cats Finally, in the Eastern Orthodox Church, it is almost a prerequisite that a monk love cats (besides loving coffee). Selah Posted February 16, 2016 Author Share Posted February 16, 2016 I had to have her put to sleep a couple days ago . She had acute kidney failure and there was nothing that the vet could do.
