Even if the Church's position sounds good on paper (open to life, procreative, in the image of God) it really isn't practical for a lot of people. Raising children takes a lot of time and money and most people cannot financially support 5, 6, 7 and up kids. But I guess a hierarchy made entirely of celibate men without families to support may not understand this. You should read Angela's Ashes, they have a similar experience. [/quote] i guess that's where faith comes in...knowing the God will bless and provide when you follow His will of procreation... my parents had almost nothing, and yet, were so opened to life that they had 7 children. we never starved, never needed clothing, had a beautiful house to live in...and my parents know that God managed everything, because they are clueless as to where all the money came from...and how bills got paid...on time...every month...and there was still some left over... do you ever read the miracle of the multiplication of loaves and fishes?? It happens in families that choose life...
dominicansoul
...i just want to add, using a condom is another way of saying, you don't trust God, and yet you put your trust in a little rubber material that may or may not break, and may or may not prevent some sort of disease... Then we both had to get jobs when we were old enough to help pay our way. I have no idea how my own parents (and many others) would cope with large numbers of children. In Australia a child costs around $15,000-20,000 to keep a year. The average household income is $80,000.
