Otherwise, the layout seems good, the text is legible, the graphics work well. I like the rotating story thing at the top.

I think the icon next to the URL is weak, though. It's too generic.

My only usability criticism (besides the alternating light/dark backgrounds) is that you should have alt-texts on all your images.

The only thing I have done is the page in the link. I am pretty sure all the images on the link have alt tags, except for maybe the facebook thing. The rest of the site is someone else's handy-work. I can change the icon though. I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it. As for the alternations of contrast, I will tinker with it a bit and see how it looks. Thanks!

It looks great! I really like the setup.
A few suggestions...

I think the background stuff on the sides could be a little less bold. As it is, my attention is mostly drawn to the sides when it should be focused more on the information. The time for the rotating stories at the top could be a little longer, or you could include less text in them - I couldn't read through all of the info easily before it moved on.

I think I have taken care of (but not uploaded yet) the time issue with the slideshow thingy. And I will thin out the text there as well.

So, I just noticed that you're from Rockford, and run in the Spirit and Truth group out there. I'm involved in the Spirit and Truth group here in Chicago, run by Michael Sullivan. By chance, have we met at all? My name's Kris, and I'm short Irish kid with sandy-brown hair, a red goatee, and can be kinda loud.

Unfortunately, I have yet to go to a Spirit & Truth anywhere. The closest one is in McHenry and I don't live in Rockford. So, sorry, but I don't think we've met before.

Back to the website:

I like the colors quite a bit. Also, thank you for providing info for young adults as well.

One design problem: I'm using Firefox 3.0.14, and there is a rather large white space between the top header, and the first item of content. Granted, I'm using it on Linux, so that might be the issue in itself. Did anyone else notice this problem in Firefox:

(Hmm. Was trying to take a screenshot, but the program isn't working...)

Hmmm... I tried a few different screenshots with a website called browsershots.org and there was only one that seemed to display that problem, but I don't remember it being FireFox.

The only critique I have is that the change from one "headline" to the next is a bit too fast.

God bless-

I think I have that fixed, but not uploaded yet.

I really like it! :)) The color variation makes it easy to discern what you're looking at, and it's not overwhelming. It's detailed, but not busy, and easy to read.

Thanks :)

And thank you to everybody who provided valuable input. Hopefully soon the whole thing will be live as the real thing. Just gotta finish changing links and such.
