Sponsa Christi
JMJD Pax Christi! It has been a long time since I've been on this Forum. I just wanted to announce that I will be entering the Dominican Monastery of the Mother of God in West Springfield, MA on October 7th, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Finding my true home on Earth has been a long time coming, but I feel confident that this is it, and I am so excited to be starting a new life soon. Please take a look at their beautiful website, which is fairly new: http://www.vocationws.com or http://www.op-stjoseph.org/nuns/ws. Last year they went from wearing a modified veil to wearing a traditional one. They are also considering putting their grill back up in the parlor. They are such a lovely community of nuns. I feel so at home there. My prayers will always be with those discerning, especially those here on Phatmass. Please feel free to ask any questions about this monastery. I will try to answer, if I can. Blessings to all!

May God bless you, too! I heard that there are a couple of Japanese postulants or novices at Farmington Hills. Are you one of them? I lived in Japan for 20 years and worked as a Japanese-to-English translator. I would have loved the opportunity to work with Japanese people in the order. Please email me, if you like. Yes, we postulants must stick together!
HisChild
Congratulations and Praised be to Jesus Christ, Who first loved us! I discerned with this community back in the early 90s. My first spiritual director was a Dominican sister who was discerning entering cloistered life and was the one who brought this monastery to my attention. I loved their life and was seriously considering discerning more closely with them (I never had the money to make the first visit). I'm glad they're opting to have a web presence. I hope in their efforts it bears the fruit of many vocations. God reward you for your yes.

Sr. Francisca Marie studies every day, but english is difficult for her. But, we seem to understand (almost) everything she says. She has a great sense of humor. We also have sisters from: Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and Vietnam, oh, and the U.S.. It is a real blessing; you get a real sense of the Church being catholic--i.e. universal. I really admire them coming from so far away, to a different culture, different food, different language, different everything! All for the Lord. I'm sure in West Springfield you will find that even if the sisters are all American, it is still a wide diversity of many holy women and that the Lord will not let any gift be wasted. Congratulations again.

FSM Sister
I will pray for you, too! October 7 is a beautiful entrance day. May our Lady keep you under the folds of her mantle and draw you closer to her Son every day. May the Lord grant you peace, and the grace of perseverance! Strive to enter through the narrow gate. Keep your first fervor, as you are in love with the King of Kings! That's one impressive website! I'm sure there is more than the fact that they went back to the traditional veils that attracted you to this monastery, though. Would you be willing to share??? Also, I couldn't find what their age limits are, and what else they require. Being an active sister myself, the contemplative life remains somewhat of a mystery to me. (I mean - why wouldn't everyone want to be a Franciscan and teach in a Catholic school? What's not to like? J/k!!! )

I don't know. That's how I view teaching.
