Doesn't change how we should be acting until then.
Wish I wasn't already out of + points. Besides only God the Father knows that time and date. If you are in good light- why worry? abercius24
I dont believe that the END of the world is going to happen anytime soon. But I do beleive that we may experience some major chastisements very soon. 2012 sound about right. Now let us remember Jesus said that we know not the day of his second coming, he never said we wouldnt know the days of certain chastisements like a comet, WWIII, natural disasters, communism and so on. Our Lady of Fatima gave a stern warning to all of mankind that if we do not repent and follow the good news of Jesus we will experience huge punishments. and with the cultural demonic possesion influencing abortion, fornication, homosexuality, porn, child abuse, euthanasia........and the fact that the world is falling into all this SIN, I think we should always be praying that we have more time and use this time to repent and convert to JESUS.
I think you're right on the money here! 100%! All "minor apocalypses" do point to the Final Apocalypse, but all minor apocalypses must come first, including the personal ending of each of our "worlds" -- our individual deaths. Even the Book of Revelation itself was primarily meant to be a prophecy of the Destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. It and all other Apocalyptic prophecies have a minor apocalyptic purpose, but each also employs language that uses the Final Apocalypse as its model -- and thereby gives a vision of what will come in the Final End. And yes, the Book of Revelation gives a lot more detail along those lines. But again, the date of that Final Apocalypse was not even revealed to our Lord Jesus in His humanity, let alone to us. And given all the serious evils that Western society in general has come to embrace, a minor apocalypse (or chastisement as sacredheartandbloodofjesus and the Fatima peeps call it) is likely just around the corner for us. Both John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI have publically recognized that we are living in "apocalyptic times". But guess what? Whether it be a minor apocalypse, or the Final Apocalypse, the chastisement to come will certainly reveal man's inability to save himself and his utter and complete need to abandone himself to the Lord. Best start praying hard now, I say! Edited September 20, 2009 by abercius24
jonyelmony
Apparently the mayans think of time as cyclical so apparently that means 2012 is meant to be the startof a new age not the end of the world, but what did the mayans rally know anyway. I can look at alot of things that point to this period being particualrly significant. Though i assume that most people of most ages could conduct similar exersizes. Nihil Obstat
I don't see why the opinion of a long dead civilization matters to anybody, actually. Why does the Mayan calendar mean anything more than some guy on the street with a sign saying "the end is near"?

Lilllabettt
So, in the Bible it says the end of the world will come when noone is expecting it. This means that because a whole bunch of people are expecting the end of the world in 2012, all the days of 2012 are disqualified for Last Day consideration. In fact, the end of the world will probably happen January 1, 2013. .......... okay that day is now disqualified.

InHisLove726
I really think it's silly to worry about the world ending. The only reason you would be is if you felt that you would be going to hell or something. I look forward to going to heaven, so whether or not the world ends today or tomorrow or 20 years from now, my mission in life is to strive towards sanctity and be ready when He comes again. Lilllabettt
Whenever "the" world ends, "my" world is going to end when I die. The end of my world is definitely going to happen in my lifetime. It would seem wiser to be worried about that.
MIKolbe
It would be wiser to worry about the living part before you die, but yeah.. i see your point.
