If the democrats were on a path to claim their honor and dignity, they just lost it all. This is absolutely ridiculous.

My comments in bold.

By Paul Kane
House Democratic leaders have decided to hold a vote Tuesday to reprimand Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) for his actions during President Obama's address to Congress last week, during which he shouted "You lie!" as Obama discussed proposed health-care legislation.

After an hour-long meeting in the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), aides told reporters that the leadership team was united in its decision to press ahead with a "resolution of disapproval" because Wilson has refused to go to the well of the House chamber and publicly apologize to his colleagues. "It goes directly to the issue of conduct on the House floor," said Kristie Greco, spokeswoman for House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.), who has led the effort to rebuke his home-state colleague. "Not addressing the issue sets a precedent for bad behavior."

So what about all the times Democrats booed Bush......that wasn't a precedent for bad behavoir? Was there any apologies there? I don't remember. Didn't Nancy Pelosi claim the CIA lied to her when she didn't really know? I mean, the Democrats are hardly a bunch of people to be demanding an apology from someone.

Actually they already got it, and Obama has accepted it. Why does he need to apologize twice? While I don't care for Obama, he's the only democrat who is acting like an adult right now, and wants to move past this.

Wilson continued to refuse any further apology Monday beyond his private phone conversation with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel shortly after Obama's speech Wednesday night, and GOP leaders have lined up in opposition to the resolution against Wilson.

Democrats have scheduled a pair of lengthy meetings for their caucus in the morning and the early afternoon, part of an effort to build party unity on the health-care proposal, so the Wilson vote is not likely until midafternoon or later.

:hehe: I thought this was a thread about House the doctor having all the doctors vote on how to reprimand Wilson the other doctor.

Anyway, yeah, I don't see why they have to keep bringing this up. They're going to be the ones to regret it later.

If they were smart they'd at least wait awhile and bring it up when they wanted to really shove it to Republicans Edited by zunshynn

Let the Democrats do what they want, someday they won't be in the majority and they will have to live with the precedents they are presently setting in the House.

The White House admitted Joe Wilson was right. If Obama was really acting like an adult, he would snuff out this soap opera by reigning in his democrat minions. Let's see some of that smooth talking to quell the fire. Then again, maybe he doesn't want it to end. :detective:

Another point I heard on the radio that was pretty good is that Obama is the one who set the tone. He called people who disagree with him liars before Joe Wilson spoke up. If the president wants to temper the tone in this debate, he should start with himself.

From the speech..
Some of people's concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but by prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Now, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple.

If he was so smart, he could have gotten the same point across like this...
There are some out there who believe the government will have panels to determine who lives and dies. I understand the concern and fears. Let me assure you. The plan I am proposing does not contain these panels. I will request any provisions introduced to the final bill having anything like what has been described as "death panels" be removed. As a sign of how serious I am on this issue, I will personally back this request with my veto pen if necessary.
That seems less confrontational. Obama's ego is too large to say something like that.

I'm glad slapping people on the wrist for calling an equal a liar is the most pressing issue at hand.

Clearly it is more important than the economy. Duh.

Wouldn't he make a better "Health Czar"? He can figure out anything...

Besides, he's British. He can't be President unless he was born in the US or in Kenya.

Ugh. We are talking about Greg House here, not Hugh Laurie. Greg House was clearly US born. I bet he even has a birth certificate.

House was a military brat. He might have been born in the Philippines or something.
