She's a little girl for goodness sakes. She acted like a little girl would. Do we expect them to sit there like soldiers? Uncalled for. Totally uncalled for.

There is a line between misbehaving and the public dealing with it, and the parents taking action and taking the kid outside until they calm down.

seems to be like a restaurant that was short-staffed on opening weekend. it seems like the parents did what they could to placate their child when their service and food was slow. it seems like anyone who isn't a parent bashes parents who do take their children out to eat because the children (or parents) don't behave up to your standards. gimme a break.
Well, both of us could argue our side all we want but ultimately the article doesn't really tell you how much the kid acted up and since our arguments rely on speculation and not from facts, I don't see either of us winning the argument.

I will say though that I do expect parents to have their child reasonably disciplined. You have to admit that today many parents today have next to no control over their kids, and when their kids wrecks havoc in the public arena, they brush it aside as "kids being kids" and ignore their responsibility. With this in mind, it is difficult to think you had really good parents here......maybe you did, I don't know.....regardless, the server's actions were uncalled for whether the parents had disciplined control or not.

Now, with that aside, I am aware that kids act out and do not act perfectly all the time. I am the oldest of eight (soon to be nine), and have three years in the restaurant business waiting tables so I know the difference between parents who have control, and the ones that don't, and you can generally tell regardless if the kids act out or not.

Seeing as Wal-Mart owns Asda, one could argue that Wal-Mart is indeed in England. ;)
Yes. but that's like saying "I own a Volkswagen" when you own a Skoda.

Just a polite request, Eagle Eye...Please don't use a Daily Mail link again. Ever. Thank you.

If the person was anything like a number of people I've worked with, yes it probably was. It still doesn't make it right though.

I'd agree with that.

I just want to clarify that I don't think the toddler was necessarily acting horridly. I am just agreeing with the statement that IF the parents were anything like what I've seen people behave like at work, then yes, it was probably worth being fired. That is all.

Point taken. I thought at one time they were considering changing the name of Asda to Wal-Mart, but guess that fizzled out. I just like that Asda deliver groceries since I don't have a car.

When my daugther was two years old she had a kidney infection. Seh spent two nights at the hospital and obvisouly, being in pain, she was crying often during the night. Several nurses would come by and although politely insisted we keep her quiet.

The poor kid was in pain darn it, and in the kids section of the hospital, the nurses continually coming in and commenting didn't help our stress.

That is just so wrong... :(

Mission, I thought that's what you meant. I know so many people I've worked with who would love to just snap back at one customer, not even necessarily a bad one it's sad. Of course, on my final day at my last job, I had five minutes left and a customer became extremely belligerent that I was helping another customer first, and as she cussed out both myself and the other customer I asked her to calm down, that I would be with her in a moment. She continued her tirade until finally reaching, "And do you :censored: :censored: fata** :censored: think I give a :censored: about this :censored:. If you want me to spend my :censored: :censored: money here, you'll dump that fat :censored: and help me right :censored: now!" At this point my customer I was helping was obviously distraught, and I had nothing to lose in five minutes and regrettably failed to keep my charity in check by going, "Honestly ma'am, I don't give a :censored: if you spend your money here if you're going to behave like that". It felt good to a small extent, and my customer I was helping thanked me for dealing with her that way.

In the case of this article however, profanity, especially an f-bomb, is inappropriate on so many levels.

Come on people, we're talking about attempts at Mexican cuisine in the U.K. here. You have no idea how brutal that is.

No wonder everyone involved was grumpy.

Entirely appropriate reason for noise. :annoyed:

The thing that hit me about all the comments back and forth, is that once again, we as a society are slowly getting to the point where children are considered a nuisance rather than a gift.
