Of course last night was in the midst of the great Atlanta flood and I had no cable or internet until today. None of the online TV sites will have episodes posted until next week. I am sad. zunshynn
I was disappointed. I mean ok... him rapping with his roommate was hysterical, and the whole musicbox thing was basically awesome. But it moved so sloooooooow. I mean that extra minute they kept talking about? Total hype. Umm... yeah, they could've cut the show down to an hour and it still would've been slow. And the thing with the music therapist? Aside from the fact that the sex scene was entirely unnecessary, it was lame to begin with. "All I know is five minutes ago I was happy, and now I'm not." Please. I hope the rest of the season is better. All that hype and then... poof... all we find out is that House as we know him has basically disappeared. Neither of these 'should' have happened with the old House. Now they have. So what are we left with? A new House, for sure. I'm an eternal optimist. I think we'll be happy with where this season is going.

Sojourner
I watched it last night (thanks, DVR!) and thought it was very good, and in keeping with the development of House's character from last season. He had clearly come to a point where the way he was doing things wasn't working for him anymore, professionally or personally, and needed to make significant changes. I didn't feel like it moved too slowly ... I thought the character development was good, and I think I agree that plot-wise he should have stayed in for a bit longer. Although maybe not. I'll reserve judgment on that for a few episodes. I didn't mind the relationship with the music therapist. At this point I don't expect that House is always going to follow Catholic moral teachings, or really any set of moral beliefs than his own. It actually seemed consistent with his character. A couple of lines I liked: From the doc to House: "You’re not God, House. You’re just another screwed up human being who needs to move on. Apologize to him. Let yourself feel better, then you can learn to let yourself keep feeling better." I like how his doc patiently shows him that his way of doing things -- trying to fix things instead of accepting failure, learning from it, and moving on -- isn't working for him. All in all, a good episode.

It's absolutely obsessive. Part of the expectations that this new episode defied is that House didn't solve it. He needed help. "She left... and I'm lost." That was the breakthrough. He can't solve it, and he realized that.
aalpha1989
I thought the episode was kinda dumb. I mean what now? Does he get back on Vicodin? C'mon... House without Vicodin is not House. If the season follows this episode it's a completely different show from the one of the last four seasons. I did enjoy the episode, I just think it may have destroyed House the character. He's supposed to be arrogant, sarcastic, in denial, hooked on Vicodin, etc. That's House. I think they may get back there somehow... i hope they do... Otherwise it's like watching the same couple seasons over and over again. There's only so many times that Wilson can berate House for being and arrogant jerk, and there's only so many people that House can hilariously alienate with antisocial behaviour. I'm not saying he has to be completely different, but changes need to happen. Otherwise it's the same episode week after week, with a couple different characters and a new disease. Brother Adam
Omg, it was t3h gr3at3st!!!!! Actually, Brother Adam disagrees, but I thought it was quite intelligently done.
I liked most of the first hour, and parts of the second hour, but it was too drawn out. A good majority of movies clock in at the same time (1 1/2 hours), and we have one tv episode. This was a complete structure change for House, which is not a bad thing, but wasn't executed as well as it could have been. They have left subplots too quickly in previous seasons, so if that was it for the asylum I don't think its a good thing. I actually got bored enough at one point I left the tv room of the friends house we were at to do something else.
Lilllabettt
Hmm I 'm not too worried about a major sea-change for House's character. He'll have the pain to make him cranky and anti-social. Maybe he won't be as mean. I started watching House during Season ... 4? At one point I saw some of the earlier seasons, and I said to myself, wow, he was a lot nicer back then. Marie-Therese
Finally saw the episode. I am pretty wowed. So wowed, it made me actually think I should go get therapy. No lie. LOL It will be interesting to see how these changes affect House...it will certainly heighten his internal struggles. Personally, if House is on, I'm watching. I don't care if it's him reading a soliloquy about sweeping the floor.
ardillacid
I don't think the episode was really that spectacular. Did they ever find out why he went crazy? I mean, he had serious mental issues at the end of last season, and now he's magically better? I hope Amber comes back. She rocks
