What Would You Say

Am I the only one who feels like mulls is setting a trap (no offense brother, but it usually seems to me that when people ask a vague, foundational question and get an answer and then ask everyone to agree with that answer before continuing, they are usually setting a trap)?

Catholicism will survive the trap. I am guessing I will to. So tell us, Mulls, what are you getting at?
Suppose you meet a random person on the street, and will never see this person again in your life.

This person doesn't know anything about anything....but for some reason they ask you how to get to heaven?

what would you tell them?
Since I would never see them again, and I know Christ's Church is everywhere and guided in all Truth - as Jesus promised. I would say....

Find a Cathoic Church, take RCIA, and all your questions will be answered. The Catholic Church was built by Christ. The Apostles were the first Bishops. Peter was the first Pope. Jesus is God and He promised that the Church would never be overcome and always be guided in all Truth. The Apostles tell us that the Church is the Pillar and Foundation of Truth. So to know Truth, we must have the Church. The only Church that has been around since 33 AD is the Catholic Church. It was the Church that gave us the bible and it will know the meanings best. For the bible tells us that those who leave the Church will draw away true disciples away to their own destruction. The only Church to have an answer for everything is the Catholic Church. It holds up to all scrutinany.... but don't take my word for it, see for yourself. See what the Catholic Church teachings from the Catholic Church, study Christian history (Early Church Fathers) from a Catholic source, secular source, and a non-Catholic source. Then, every attack you hear against the Catholic Church seek an answer from a real Catholic source... i.e. Catholic.com, USCCB.org, NewAdvent.org, ScriptureCatholic.com, etc... Then join Phatmass.com's forum for there are some knowledgable Catholics there that could answer questions for you, but there are also some who are not so knowledgable... double check everything. Most of all, pray to God for wisdom to see the truth and read a good bible (i.e. NAB, New Jerusalem, any aproved of by those who gave us the bible - The Catholic Church).

God Bless,
ironmonk

nothing. not every question is a trap. but paranoia can be.

anyways, for those who can't conclude on their own, i asked this question to see how a catholic would explain salvation to another......or "evangelize" them if you will.

Sorry. You've got to admit that it seems like a standard set-up.

Okay, Mulls. Here's my answer:

I would say, "Love God with all you've got, and love your neighbor as yourself. Imitate Jesus and Mary to the best of your ability. Look to Scripture and Tradition for their example. And yes, go talk to a priest!"
