elizabeth09
I enjoy reading the book, but dislike the movie. I really liked the Simpson's version.
Yeah, two of them. 1963 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057261/ 1990 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100054/ Both were bad. Although, I must say that watching the 1990 version was a blast. Parents dropped us off at the theater and we we the only people in it--so we ran around the completely empty theater while the movie was playing pretending we were on the island. mortify
There was one character that was a Christ like figure. I forgot his name, but it was the boy killed on the beach while the rest went in some kind of frenzy.
King's Rook's Pawn
This book's view of human nature is too pessimistic in my opinion; it has a sort of nihilistic tone to it that I disagree with.
alleros
Not simply anarchy, but what happens to an "enclosed" group when they lose touch with the outside world. Everything gets out of proportion. A false reality This is what happens in cults. The moment I remember most in the film was when the Navy man stands over the boys and suddenly all their power evaporates as reality reenters their world. At least I think it was in the film; may have been reading it ( It is on youtube by the way)
I read the book, and it was a great example of what anarchy brings to a society. I also liked Animal Farm and 1984. Jim
