CatherineM
Just wear a surgical mask. They will think you've got swine flu, and the hugs will stop. If you can't wear a mask, just start coughing real loud when someone gets too close.
missionseeker
I actually do that a lot. (not the mask, the cough)
Archaeology cat
+J.M.J.+ arch, i'm so glad i'm not the only one that doesn't like hugging people i just met. and i don't understand why women are expected to hug, and men can get away with a handshake. i would much rather give someone a handshake (unless it's a close relative or my husband or my children) than hug them. i just don't get it.
I've always been like that. I actually didn't even like hugging extended family until I was older. I used to shake my grandfather's hand.
I agree. Unless I know you and want to hug you I will. I am not a huge touchy feely person UNLESS you are a very very close friend or relative. Another thing I don't get is why girls like to touch other girls hair. I absolutely dislike it. There are only certain people that I am ok with touching my hair. When I had it super long people would come up and touch it or wave it around and I would get so mad. Now that it is shorter people like to brush the back of my hair where I have it flipped up.
Oh I have always hated it when people tried to play with my hair (unless I asked them to braid it, as I'm bad at braiding my own hair).
I don't mind hugs as much as I mind when they try to pat or rub my belly or when strangers in Church try holding Aaron or taking him from me. Makes me want to knock people out!
Yep. A person once decided to help me get on the bus by trying to carry Kieran - thankfully he freaked out and the person quickly gave him back and got the buggy instead (I can get both on my own, but help is appreciated - if they take the buggy and not the kid). Jaime
I've been called the cuddliest man alive by several people. Strangers cross the street just to hug me. Red would be hard pressed to resist.

MIKolbe
I am not a random hugger, but I would not feel that people on PM are random. Other than a few of our more obtuse members, I would pretty much hug any phatmasser, as I feel I do know them (in a way). Youse guys aren't strangers to me. IcePrincessKRS
I don't like hugging people I don't know or acquaintances. Family and friends I have no problem with. My mom used to call me "Little Miss Touch-me-not" because I didn't like being touched or a lot of hugging.

Sojourner
I used to be very huggy, but not so much since I moved to MN. I usually let others initiate it, because a lot of people are uncomfortable with hugs. I don't like hugging strangers, and even some friends. I love hugging my hubby though, or really anyone in my family. My hubby's family is really not huggy ... I noticed this early on in our dating. They are remarkably close to one another, but just not physically affectionate sibling to sibling.
