I'm curious if anyone has a story about answered prayers through the intercession of St. Therese, and whether or not you received roses as a sign.

I am pretty sure that, in her youth, my grandmother had an experience where the asked St. Therese's intercession and the prayer was answered. Yes, there was a rose. :)

The Bus Station

I do :)

It was the seventh day of the novena in late November (so it was pretty frigid), and I was actually starting to become disheartened and doubtful, wondering if the novena would even work. I was thinking all this as I was walking into church, and as I went to open the door I looked down and saw a single (beautiful) yellow rose on the cold concrete. It wasn't long after I had finished the novena that my intention was answered little by little (it was a gradual process, something internal that I'd rather not share).

Could have been a coincidence... but that rose sure made me feel a lot better. :)

Saint Therese

I received a rose once, without a specific prayer to St. Therese. It was like she took pity on me even though I didn't specifically pray to her. Thanks be to God.

I did.

Was in a horrible, horrible situation family/work/health/housing-wise. I wouldn't normally do anything so obviously... I don't know... manipulative? Formulaic? But I was miserable and it was worth a try.

At the time I had no relatives (just in-laws), no friends, no work, barely left the house, and was living in a tiny town where I didn't know anyone. There was pretty much no way I could get roses. Last day of the novena or so I checked the mail and there, out of the blue, was a waxed-paper packet of blessed dried rose petals, sent by a religious order.

Took a little while longer for the problems to resolve, but they did. And until everything got better, it was nice to be able to think that someone was at least paying attention to my troubles.

I did also.

Recently, I was laid off from my job (as many here know) and went 2 months with no income. I had just gotten a new house, and hadn't even gotten moved all the way in, and now all of the sudden was faced with losing it. St. Therese is my patron saint, and so I asked her intercession in keeping my eyes focused on the Lord even while I was struggling with my doubts and depression about being without work. I also asked her for special hand of protection.

I went over to my new house to do some housekeeping and to unpack some things, wondering if I should even bother. There, at the side of my house, I have a rosebush, but it had not bloomed at all this summer. There, right at the top of the bush, was a single, perfect pink rose. I knew right away who it came from.

I said a prayer to thank St. Therese for her intercession, and another to Our Lady for her love and prayers. The next day there were 2 blossoms on the bush. There have been 2 blossoms on that bush every day since then.

Since that time I have also gotten a new job, so my needs were taken care of. I will be able to keep my house, and stay near to my beautiful rosebush. :)

I reason I ask is because I decided to try praying to her for her intercession.

I think I prayed to her a long time ago and I vaguely remember there being roses as the main altar decoration the following Sunday.

Fidei, glad to hear it. :) St. Therese loves to listen.

Have you ever read Story of a Soul? It might not be the most enjoyable read for a guy, simply because it is written at the turn of the century and she was quite a young girl when she wrote it...she was only 24 when she died. However, it does give you some insight into her perspective on life and her little way, which is really how I try to guide my life. It makes sanctity approachable for anyone. If you can't slog through the book itself, I'd encourage you to read at least some selections from her writings. It would give you a great idea about how she viewed things.

Ash Wednesday

I don't recall a Therese rose story, (only because I never prayed the novena before) but one time during a crisis with a friend, we both prayed the rosary one evening, went downstairs to my car later on and someone had picked some flowers and left them on the hood of my car.

Also have an interesting connection with my mother. She sent me red and white carnations when she was alive on my 21st birthday. Years later, after she had died, I was in adoration on my birthday and someone had left red and white carnations there in the chapel next to the monstrance. I know the woman who arranged the flowers in the church, and she had no idea where they came from or who brought them there. :idontknow:

Looking forward to seeing St. Therese's relics in Oxford this fall!

I read it and fell in love with her. She and Our Lady first led me to discern at Carmel.

I thought about praying the novena a couple times while at school, but at school there are roses stinkin EVERYWHERE so I didn't want to pray it and then have every rose I see be a suspicion of supernatural.

Maybe this winter when I get depressed cause the sun is gone I'll pray for her intercession specifically

I'm being open minded in hope that a giant sign saying "GOD IS HERE ----->" will appear.

And I'm not even joking.

I'd like to ask why, but I'm hesitating, because that's obviously a really personal question. If you want to share, I'd love to hear, but I understand perfectly if you'd rather not.
