Theologian in Training
I'm doing a research paper on St. Augustine and on how his literary writings helped influenced Catholic doctrine. What were some of his major or most influencial contributions?
Well, one of his greatest contributions was his Confessions because this marked the first time anyone had ever written an autobiography. What's more is that this autobiography was deeply psychological and there are many elements within the Confessions to attest to this fact. Further his theology in City of God has been foundational for a lot of theology that has developed within the life of the Church. In fact, he is one of the Doctors of the Church which raffirms this idea. Those are just a few of his major contributions to the Church as a whole, and to the literary world as well. I don't want to go any further as this is your paper and you should really develop it the way you think fit. God Bless
