littleflower+JMJ
What do you guys consider modest dressing for guys and girls?
what i consider as modest dressing for boys and girls i preserving one's sacredness and dignity for God, themselves and for the future spouse if they are called to be married to. dressing modesty should cover all grounds of avoiding the occasion of sin through one's clothing and to others around them. its also protecting and holding value to the beauty God has given you and expects you to also hold sacred. immodest strives and succeeds in seeing others lustfully and in a false light of beauty (for it obviously focuses on all the wrong things -_- ) and fails to respect and recognize that person as a human being with feelings and heart. so dressing modesty for boys and girls would be doing their best to dress in the manner that would most please God, for i think it is then were we can truly come to know ourselves as His children modeling ourselves after the saints, who pleased God most highly, is a good way to go i think well not sure if thats the kind of answer you were looking for...if im way off just let me know God bless, flowery +JMJ
Iacobus
With guys and this applies to girls, your legs above the knee should be covered mostly (NEVER higher than your finger tips hanging at your sides) and I should not be able to see your stomach between your shirt and pants and your cloths should never be so tight as to be able to tell if they are wearing an undershirt or undergarments in a relaxed state. But that is just me. LOL, if in doubt go back to the 1700's and don't show the ankle.
ilovechrist
i agree with you Iacobus on this... modesty is not seeing anything higher than just above the knee (i ref soccer, so their small shorts are required.. whatever).. i don't really care about seeing a belly button, but it is quite immoodest to see VERY tight clothing.. actually the late 1800s would be a nice place to go back to as well, it didn't get too bad until Marilyn Monroe... but thats in my research

Theoketos
In [I}Love and Responsibility The Pope says that Modest dress is something that inspires Love. Thus Dress should encourage other people (esp the other sex) to you as a whole person. As a whole person you masculine or femine and thus clothing should bring out the prespective clothing as well guard the other sex. Accenting your Body in a modest way is possible and thus Pope encourages women not wear burlap sacks. Also clothing should fit it purpose. The Pope actually speaks of bathing suits in that it is good to wear them when swimming but not around in town. Still clothing should always inspire love.
immaculata
I always try to explain to my CCD class that it's a girl's responsibility to help protect the guys' purity. Kinda puts things in a different light.. ilovechrist
thats what our class has always been told, that it's the girl's responsobility... but the guys still have to keep a chaste mind at the same time whenever they encounter something morally wrong.. very difficult w/ most of our generation today... Good Friday
And for that matter, it's the guy's responsibility to protect girls' purity (or other guys' purity, for that matter). As a guy with same-sex attractions, I greatly appreciate it when men choose to wear a shirt when they're going for a run, working outside, etc. Most men don't think of this, but being without a shirt can be immodest, and it can be an occasion of sin for women as well as other men with SSAs. Of course, I see nothing wrong with it when swimming, but I think you get my point. Men can be immodest, too.
Lil Red
guys need to dress modestly too, for the girls' sake! Come on now, let's not have a double standard! Guys need to make sure they're not walking around shirtless, no tight shirts or tight jeans (I guess that's my generation showing! ) and Good Friday, I know of several guys that wear an undershirt while swimming. It ain't much, but it's some.
XIX
Tanktops are more revealing than they might seem, especially the spaghetti straps... I know it's hot out, but a couple of shorts sleees go a long, long way. Even if it's sleeveless, if you get the shoulders, I usually feel less skittish. Skirts, for some reason, stick out more than short shorts. Try to keep skirts at or near the knee, at least. I know people who wear skirts (if you call them skirts) tht go down to the ankles, and short sleeve shirts that aren't tight. That is my 2 cents. Aloysius
isn't it funny how offended the girls get when i inform them they forgot to put enough clothes on this morning to cover their own body?
