Although I cannot share the pictures (because I want to respect the privacy of my sister novices), five of us became novices on August 7th, and on the 15th we received the Constitutions in a private ceremony.

I just returned from the first profession of 2 new Salesian brothers, one made final profession yesterday, two became novices... and some more moved onto other stages of formation.

All in all, we are nine novices for the Salesian Sisters. God is good! :)

I was privileged to be at both the final and first profession in Ann Arbor. Five Sisters made final vows on the feast of St. John Vianney and nine made first vows on the feast of the Transfiguration :). Eight postulants received the habit and their new names on August 5th in a private ceremony and I was able to see all of them at the first profession the next day. I'm sure Sr. Joseph Andrew will be posting up pictures soon. Hopefully by the end of the month. :D

Mandy you must be getting so excited as your day approaches. Any other PM'ers headed to Ann Arbor?

I believe Sr. Joseph Andrew only posts all the pictures once the postulants have entered.

I guess I should add this here, instead of in the other thread, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George had their feast day, veiling two new novices, and a few first professions, etc

Also, the Passionists will have a new entrant at the end of August

Prayers going up for all!

Also, the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration have clothed three new novices: Sr M Petra of St Joseph, OSF; Sr M Benedicta of St Joseph, OSF; and Sr M Cecelia Clare of St Joseph, OSF!

Two Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate (Contemplative) make solemn profession. I must say they have particularly gorgeous habits, don't they?

Oh, yes. I love their veils, most of all. Everytime I see one of them, I'm reminded of the Blessed Mother. :)

I absolutely love how they have adapted the "funeral pall" idea to being covered with Mary's mantle. It's both traditional and renewed in their charism. Brilliant!

Edit: that's pall, not pail, which is apparently a bucket.

Totally agree! Does anyone know of other orders that do the "funeral pall" cover during their Solemn Professions? Poor Clares, Carmelites,....etc?

:sadder:  :sadder:  :sadder:

:scratchhead: Phatmass does not have the emoticon I need, which is :tears of amazed joy: upon reading the vows as posted on the site linked above. Someday God willing I will make vows very similar to those.

By the way, you threw me off by posting "Fra. Sisters of Mary Immaculate," because I think there are some other orders called that, whereas the FSI are the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate. I was pleased and astonished though that the link was the FSI.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe johnnydigit entered the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate on August 14th (Feast of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe). :smokey:

The perpetual profession pictures are up now: Sister Margaret Mary

Also, just to remind you that we have a former phatmasser in the novitiate of this community--Sister Mariana--known on the phorum as "be_thou_my_vision".

Just one of many good solid active Franciscan communities in the Midwest, IMHO!
