I do think that those can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience. Have you read Conscience and Truth by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger?
I'm just kind of curious Rexi. What do you think will happen to me in the next life? I won't be offended by the answer if it's hell. Edited August 15, 2009 by Hassan
Hassan
Although I will think it's unjust. I mean I have a great many flaws. I can be quick to anger, manipulative and cold. Sometimes I partake in gossip. I've blasphemed. I drink too much sometimes. But I also have good parts. I mean I've tried to live my life honestly and improve my bad qualities as best I can, even if I often relapse.
Resurrexi
I'm asking why Catholicism is the only way
Jesus said that He is the* way, and the* truth, and the* life, and that no-one comes to the Father except through Him. I believe that Jesus is God Himself, and that the Church which He founded is the Catholic Church. This might not convince you (or very many other people) that Catholicism is the true religion to which God desires that all men belong, but it does convince me. However, as I said before, I do believe that a man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of Christ's Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. *The definite article is indeed present in the original Greek: "ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ὁδὸς καὶ ἡ ἀλήθεια καὶ ἡ ζωή· οὐδεὶς ἔρχεται πρὸς τὸν πατέρα εἰ μὴ δι᾽ ἐμοῦ." You could very well return to full communion with the Church between now and that that day; you could even accept the Catholic religion and be absolved of your sins on you deathbed. Even if I did know every thought, word, action, and omission of yours from now until the day you die, Jesus Christ, not I, will be your judge. CatherineM
I don't know if I'd want everyone to be Catholic, but I would like it if my family came back to the faith. I don't think we should be about proselytizing. I prefer evangelization.

I think there are enough of those around that we don't need to actively try to convert non-Catholic Christians to Catholicism (it would of course be nice if they returned the same favor to us). Those who seek us out, is a different matter.

Resurrexi
When did I ever say that we should use coercion to force anyone to convert? The word proselytize itself means to "try to to convert another".
Selah
Why is it important to convert, though? Why is it so important that a complete stranger believe the same thing you do?
