I don't particularly like her, but she is, in fact, our secretary of state. Not her husband. If I was in her shoes, i would have done the same thing. homeschoolmom
Well, I can see how it looked to her (hearing him ask for her husband's opinion) and I can understand that she must have been jet lagged etc.... But her diplomacy skills need a little work. And she should apologize now that she knows that it was merely a translation error.

It's not like she was in a high stakes negotiation or her response was over the top.
Ash Wednesday
She could have been a bit less crabby about it, but that's just typical Hillary.
zunshynn
I just think she was a little immature... Not wrong, necessarily, but she makes herself look kind of snobby and obsessed with power.
zunshynn
Plus, if you look at longer clips, that include the part right before this, she already is less than diplomatic... she looks kind of bored, like this whole thing is beneath her... Here Jet lag is not an excuse for rudeness on the part of a diplomat. That's part of the territory. If you can't do so, then perhaps that it isn't the place for you.
I thought it was important for her to say that in that part of the world, even if it was really just confusion brought on my an accident by the translator.
That's unnecessary stereotyping if you ask me. I think it was obviously a language barrier issue... Edited August 12, 2009 by zunshynn
CatholicCid
When did she learn that it was a mistranslation? I've seen this clip on several news outlets, but none show a correction to the translation and an answer to the question. Have to feel for the student as well... He was probably extremely confused at the answer! Probably ran home to see when the Sec. of State married the President.
rachael
It was kind of rude, but her feistiness does amuse me a bit.
