popestpiusx
I am leaving out Pope St. Peter and the current Holy Father to make the discussion more interesting. This is in no way a condemnation of anyone not listed. I was only allowed ten choices. Feel free to comment if your favorite is not listed. I only ask this: Give, if you can, some substantial reason (not an emotional judgement) for your choice. In Christo et Maria, PSPX (who happens to not be my choice)

friarMatt
huhhm....i have a tough time choosing between Pope Clement XIV of the 1700's a Conventual Franciscan...his claim to fame is surpressing the Jesuits...each year the seminarians in Rome studing at the Gregorian (the Jesuit school) go to his tomb at our Basilica in Rome (The Basilica of the Holy Aposltes) they read the Bull of Supression and praye for Clements intercession for final exams... also Pius XII for defining the Dogma of the Assumption AND for his couragious and diplomatic actions during WW II just my 2 cents in Christ and Mary, fr. Matt ofm conv
Crusader_4
This is a tough one especially between good old Greg the Great and Leo the Great... I love the story about Leo and Attila the Hun. However my votes with Gregory beacuse he did so much for the Church. Leo was great to tho and if you ever get a chance you have to read the story about Leo vs. Attila. cmotherofpirl
My vote went to Pope St Pus V. I just finished reading a short bio and he was amazing.

PedroX
Blessed Pio Nono was cool, as was Pius XII, but my vote is for Gregory the Great. Absolutely amazing, real strength, real courage. Fantastic. peace...
RemnantRules
Awesome poll! Well St. Greg the Great was my patron saint soooo i guess... yea i'll go with him. lol. He's so freakin awesome but lets not forget the other popes that were up there and current pope, and future popes to come. benedict_x
I choose St Pius X cause he's the patron of tradionalists. I also think St Gregory the Great rocked!
popestpiusx
That's Blessed Pope Pius IX, sir.
You are, of course, correct. I could not, however, edit the post after having posted it and reaizing my terrible mistake. My apologies. He is a great hero of mine and the mistake is inexcusable. popestpiusx
The problem with the format for this poll is that I had to choose amongst so many great popes. Oh well. Vote Away!!! I personally find the comments as interesting, or even more so, than the poll itself.
Donna
Hey, Peep Pius ("Peep" is not a term of derision!)... It's a great poll. My vote for Bl. Pio Nono...the Ninth Pius: 'Cause he suffered longest of any Pontiff; And they stole the Papal States from him; And he was quite detached; Wicked (uh) sense of humor; And he was like a father to Pia Marie... And he blessed the Jewish convert Jesuit Ratisbonne brothers And 'cause he loved the papal army and they loved him back; And 'cause all his enemies admired him and he's incorrupt... BLAZEr
I vote for Leo the Great because I was born on his feast day . . . but I would consider giving my vote to Innocent III because he has a cool action figure . . .
