Hail Mary

Hey,

I have heard two ways of saying the hail mary in English

1 is:

Hail Mary full of grace the lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy Mary the Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death AMEN

The other is:

Hail Mary full of grace the lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy Mary the Mother of God pray for me, a sinners now and at the hour of my death AMEN

So are both ok to pray?

Thanks for the answer!

the_rev,

I don't see a problem with either of these versions of the Hail Mary. The only thought I would have to offer is that, in the more traditional version, a man is keeping in prayer his brothers and sisters in Christ, whereas no such thing is mentioned in the second version. Because of this social aspect, I would have to recommend the first prayer over the second.

I hope this helps.

Yours,
Pio Nono
