Sr Marianne
Gar! I hate it when gender-neutral language is used. In any context, really. I also got irritated when I would receive weekly updates from babycentre when I was pregnant, and it would use the feminine as the default pronoun.
But women are the only pregnant ones....Hence 'she'?? I didn't know what sex my son was when I was pregnant. The proper thing, then, would be to use the masculine, since that is the default, but many times, in the interest of gender equality, people are changing the default to the feminine. Andrea348
I can TOTALLY relate. One of my best friends thinks that way. It is so distracting to stand next to her at Mass because she changes all the He's to God and even worse, she has decided that the Holy Spirit is a female, so whenever the He is in reference to the Holy Spirit, she says she. Winchester
It's worth noting that two of the three persons of the Blessed Trinity are, in fact, lacking in any sort of genitalia. However, I agree with the majority here. Jesus was a man. The Bible uses masculine language, and we are a Faith based in the Bible. 2+2=4.
Jesus still is a man, and His body is His. iheartjp2
What puzzles me is what people in foreign countries do to deal with this. In languages that have grammatical gender, there are certain words that are always masculine or always feminine. Guess that leaves little wiggle room to make things gender neutral. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
If you think about it, it wouldn't make sense to call the first member of the Holy Trinity feminine. Jesus has a mother already and her name is Mary.
Even the Holy Spirit can be considered masculine because Mary is called the spouse of the Holy Spirit. I think people need to stop seeing the different genders/sexes as opposites and rather as counterparts. They make sense together and not apart... In fact, once at a neighboring a young lady came up to me and said "I don't like when they do that either". I should have asked her for her phone number..... Nihil Obstat
Worst example I've heard: "Through Jesus, with Jesus, in Jesus, in the unity of the Holy Spirit......" Doesn't flow at all, plus it's wrong.

Or am I thinking of a scriptural passage... I could break out the Latin, but I can't find my link to the OF in Latin, nor the webpage that was posted a while ago that compares the OF with the EF...
