Another Scapular Question

How do we receive a scapular? Can we go to the Catholic book store and buy it? Does a priest need to bless it and give it to us? Can we wear someone else's? Thank you and God bless.

As far as I am aware you purchase the scapular at a religious shop or a piety store at your church, if you have one, take it to the priest and he will bless it fir you. In the case of the Brown Scapular there is a special prayer of investiture which affiliates you with the Carmelites. Once you have been enrolled then a simple blessing of subsequent scapulars is all that is needed.

In my parish in Australia we conduct enrollment ceremonies on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The church has always been careful to point out that no religious article is miraculous in itself and that salvation always depends on the life and faith of the believer.
