VeniteAdoremus
Whatever you do, NEVER use a man's saddle (with a very pointy point in front). Things go wrong if you use that for more than short rides. Let's not go into details.
puellapaschalis
Just get a Dutch bike! Always super comfy. They need to be, because Dutch people spend a good deal of their time sitting on bikes. And when they don't have to, they do it for fun. (incidentally I didn't even know Gazelle had a USA branch/operation/thingy. That's quite cool)

Because that'd ruin your wheels. I rode my brother's bike over to him once, when he'd left it at our dad's (rain, or something). Ouch. Why doesn't everybody just ride a low instep bike? There's even a design that's known as "the curate bike" because in this old TV series a parochial curate was always riding around on it. In cassock. Thus low instep
icelandic_iceskater
I bike 4ish miles a day 5-6 days/wk. fun times. The other day I was passed on the bike trail by this guy that wasn't even sitting in the seat. Like... he was still in a sitting position, just 1cm-1" above the seat. I tried biking that way... it's hard

I think the main reason I bounce out of my seat, is because I change gears too fast...
homeschoolmom
The HSfam rode one of these around for an hour today. Fun times.

VeniteAdoremus
This is what I have: Mine has been customised. The saddle pin is a bit longer, among other things, and I think this is a 21' frame (I have a 26'), so on mine the wheels look a bit smaller. It's officially a trekking bike, although I'd call it a city/trekking hybrid, it's certainly tough enough The little piece of frame in the middle is very handy, and the bike is incredibly light. When I take it on the train I can just grab it in the middle and carry it up the stairs to the platform, no problem (saves you two minutes of waiting for the lift, and that can be the difference between this train and the next ) Oh, the luggage elastics are the colour of the frame and each wheel has one red spoke, the colour of the Batavus logo. Details like that. I my bike (if you hadn't noticed ) Cmom, do you have balancing difficulties or do you just want to be incredibly cool?

I am also short and would probably have to ride a 20 " bike so thats probably what I will get. I would like to ride the trails and my ultimate goal is the to do parts of the Great Allegheny Passage that stretches from here to D.C. #1 son has a Felt racer as he does crits and road races, and # 1 and 2 both have Cannondales. VeniteAdoremus
Ha Well, I know I'm not a Tour de France-rider... those injuries! And they know in advance that they're going to have at least one bad fall a year! *shudders* It would be pretty impressive if you went trailriding on that trike. It must be heavy.
