We continue to steadily grow with people I don't even know now, but this is exciting and I am happy to see such growth within a few days. I have to start more topics...or others could as well, it is an OPEN group after all ;)

I checked out the group and while I'm interested on the church's teachings on ghosts and the paranormal, my only experience has been with demonic type experiences, mostly in dreams. I get way too creeped out to read about exorcisms, etc, though I find them extremely interesting.

I invited all my friends who might possibly join a Catholic group. Most won't, but maybe one or two will.
I also invited every PMer that wasn't already there.

We are up to 37 and we continue to grow. Thank you to all of those who have joined and, if you feel you shouldn't, because you lack personal experience, don't worry about it, it is not about that, it is about discussing the paranormal in a friendly open environment.

You've actually facebooked every active PMer you could find haven't you?

How do you keep track of who is who? I have a separate group for PMers, but I still keep mixing everyone up... and I think I only have like 20...

You all have pretty nice flair though, I must say.

I've forgotten most of who's who. :( They're all in the same group though.

Well, given that some of those have not responded whom I have seen on facebook, it means they are either not interested or did not realize that an invite had been sent to them. Either way, we need more conversation, there seem to be two people that are dominating the threads.

I saw the invite for the group, but it's not a subject I care to explore too deeply.

Several months ago I did purchase one of Fr. Amorth's books (but haven't gotten around to reading it yet). I believe there are things that exist that we would term "paranormal," but I think more often than not those things are demonic in nature. Delving too deeply into exploring these things seems to me to be flirting with dangers we don't fully appreciate.

I have had friends over the years who are very interested in things like ghosts and haunted places. While I understand the intrigue, I think that treating these things like casual sightseeing is not wise. I take this sort of stuff as being pretty serious, and feel that dabbling into it can lead to potentially serious consequences.

I suppose my other concern with it is that focusing on the paranormal can easily cross the line into a focus on the occult. At the least, it can be a distraction from far more wholesome things we could be contemplating. If I'm going to spend time delving into mysterious things, I'd rather they be true, honorable, just, lovely, and so on.

No problem, I figured I would send an invite just in case you were interested. We do branch out beyond what you seem to think, but no worries.

Ya, I forget who's who too. And actually, I don't know most people's "real" name anyhow.

I saw, I just wish the same people would stop responding to them all. The thing that is really bothering me is that it is all based on personal stories instead of anything else.

I'm sorry. :( I've been so busy with work I haven't had the time to pick some stuff out of Gabriele Amorth's books.
