ThyHolyLove
Don't forget the Georgetown Visitation Sisters! They wear blue instead of the traditional Visitandine black, but I like it. emi77
This lovely order, The Order of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary wear a beautiful light blue scapular and very long veil (for professed sisters) and a dark blue scapular for the professed brothers. The novices wear all white, and the sister postulants wear a short white veil, shirt and long blue skirt. They are a very interesting mix of contemplative and apostolic too! C "We are a Roman Catholic contemplative community of religious (priests, sisters, brothers) and lay members consecrated to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary and dedicated to serving Them through Eucharistic adoration, contemplation and acts of mercy and compassion."
According to reports on Sr Olga of the Eucharist, "Missionaries of the Virgin Mary" is the name of the pre-existing congregation. But apart from media features on Sr Olga, I can't discover anything about this congregation of "Missionaries" which is said to be Assyrian rather than Roman Catholic. The journalists appear to be saying that Sr Olga's new congregation will be the first time she has founded something in the Church of Rome. It's a little confusing. brandelynmarie
Yeah, it is a little confusing. She is originally from Iraq where she was part of the Assyrian Church & founded the first Assyrian religious order, the Missionaries of the Virgin Mary...But she was sent to America to learn English & joined the RC. Here is a recent video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I3QFLcgIYI But here is an article from July 2011 that explains she has now been called to found a new order of sisters in the Archdiocese of Boston. I swear that their habits are identical. It's only the veil that's different.
