Pio Nono
JMJ 3/31 - Fifth Wednesday of Lent Rebirth flame, There are many good Catholic colleges in the United States; I personally don't know any names in other countries, unfortunately. Franciscan is very good, so you don't have to worry there. When I was considering colleges, I made a list of criteria that were important to me when I toured the college. A teacher of mine in high school encouraged me to go "college shopping" with John Paul II. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to do the same: read Ex Corde Ecclesiae and derive what you want in a Catholic school from there. I hope this helps. BLAZEr
There are many Catholic Colleges in this country, in fact, you know that you live near the most famous, Notre Dame. But I sense that what you mean is that you are looking for a college that is Catholic like the Pope, in the sense that it is a college that is "at the Heart of the Church" (Ex Corde Ecclesiae). I recommend you check into these schools: Franciscan University of Steubenville Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, CA Christendom College in Front Royal, VA Ave Maria University (in Michigan and in Florida) Corpus Christi College in Corpus Christi, TX Magdalen College Benedictine University in Kansas And these are some schools with Great Newman Centers: Texas A&M University University of Illinois at Bloomington Oklahoma State Louisiana State And these are some Catholic Schools that have great communitiies where you will find a strong Catholic community, despite the fact that the majority of the students won't be as committed: Notre Dame Providence Fordham University of Dallas You should check out the Cardinal Newman Society http://www.cardinalnewmansociety.org/ They make it their job to give recommendations on colleges that are trying to be Fatihful to the Church.
