Iacobus
Oh, and the quote by JFK and Kerry about not being a Catholic pres is almost needed. Many people won't vote for a Catholic because they think the loyality lies to Rome than to the US.
Aloysius
in this case he doesn't even follow the Pope on matters he's supposed to follow him on, so it really is unnecessary. if he is elected president i believe it's the Pope's duty to publically excommunicate him. the_rev
A definition of an oxymoron, a person who says something but contradicts himself with other statements. Example of Oxymoron activity, Forcing a courthouse to remove the ten commandments monumnet from their building, but having a person under oath put their hand on the bible, and testify swearing to tell the truth, as they swear to God. We should pray for John Kerry!
littleflower+JMJ
whether you think his a scam or not, a vote for bush is a vote closer to ending abortion and thats worth voting for. yeah its okay if you think his a scam, but we cannot forget that his pro-life and that is something we should never put aside. its also is something that i am willing to support regardless of anything else that may seem negative that this media has bought upon. Iacobus, how old are you again? are you old enough to vote? just curious
Colleen
Oh, and the quote by JFK and Kerry about not being a Catholic pres is almost needed. Many people won't vote for a Catholic because they think the loyality lies to Rome than to the US.
Yeah, which was why Al Smith did not win the presidency in 1928 -- because of anti-Catholic prejudice. JFK said that because he was afraid the same thing would happen to him. But it's JFK's statement itself, "I will be a president who happens to be Catholic, not a Catholic president" that irks me. The purpose of it was to establish a difference between America and the Vatican, but at the same time, it really bothers me, and here's why: Should you put aside what you know is the right thing to do -- simply because you don't want to be seen as a Pope-follower? I mean, is Kerry so afraid that the American people will see him as a tool of the Pope's that he refuses to follow Church teaching? How come Kerry can say, I follow the Church's teaching on economic issues and encourage others to (as he did in the 80s), but when it comes to abortion, suddenly the Church is wrong and should be ignored? To me, it's just hypocrisy. Does that make sense?
Iacobus
I am not defending Kerry statement but Catholic canadties seem to say things like that. American protestants, not all but a good number, don't like the Catholic Church. When Al Smith lost in 1928 there was a joke that went around that after he lost he sent one word to Rome, "unpack." America has tradionaly been anti- Catholic. littleflower+JMJ, I am 17 now but I will turn 18 in May and vote this fall removing the title of idiot from my name. An idiot, from Greek, is one who does not vote, lol! So true. I stand on both sides of the poltical fence and I don't have to worry much about my state, we have Chicago (it will probly go Dem). Though I might vote repbulican in the senate race, though Jack Ryan needs to change his name to win. A vote for the W. may bring us closer to ending abortion but his ideas on the DP and war and stuff are hard to handle. ESP after one of his crownies called the teachers union a terroist cell!!!!!! My parents are members of that union! I will never vote for W, I will vote pro life, 3rd party. If W. loses by one vote in IL, maybe that will convice the repbulican be get a few more brain cells involed in the nom process.

Iacobus
I am reading about the people running for seante and I agree with the dem on all issues but one, abortion. I don't think his platform is very well defined, http://www.jackryan2004.com/issues/ , esp when compered to http://www.obamaforillinois.com/artman/publish/issues.shtml . I like Obama more except on abortion and I question Ryans economic ploices (the good ole days of Regannomics) but I could vote for him.
tobk2000
I agree that there are better candidates out there than Bush, but I for one can't trust Kerry. He's using the fact that he is Catholic as a tool to gain a voting block, but won't base anything in the church he's for abortion, which is scary enough honestly, when it comes down to it, the race is between Kerry and Bush, so please, vote for Bush, not some other guy who has no chance of winning. MC Just
If Kerry becomes president, I pray that the pope will publicily ban him from receiving communion, unless he changes his stance on abortion. What better way to prove to the world that the Catholic Church is the last remaining institutional power that will fight for morality? IF Kerry becomes president, I hope and pray that the Church will make it clear to the world that Kerry is NOT a Catholic in good standing with the Church.
AMEN A trillion times to that. HomeTeamFamily
does anyone know of a good site that compares and contrasts kerry's and bush's standpoint on the major issues as well as some of the third party candidates?.....i guess i consider myself sitting on the fence but im leaning toward bush unless there is a third party candidate that is pro-life and differs from bush....kerry is pretty much out....everytime ive heard him talk about his platform he was very vague and doesnt seem to have a very good grip on things......so anyway, if anyone knows a good comparison site id appreciate it much!!!! thanks pham adam
