Paladin D
Since Jesus is the only meditator between God and man, does that mean we must pray to Jesus instead to God? Or is it when we pray to God, we are using Jesus' "phone line" so to speak?
Pontifex
The gates of Heaven have been opened to us through the merits of Jesus Christ. We can pray to God, and since Jesus is God we really do not have to worry about the distinction to the point of wondering which memember of the trinity we are envoking. When we envoke one, we envoke them all. In the multiplicity of God's creation and his generous love for us, we have been given a participation in this as well. We are the body of Christ, the Church, and therefore we can ask one another to pray for us. It is the basic idea when we talk about the communion of Saints. It is all through the merits of Jesus Christ, which is why we pray "Through Christ our Lord." Peace, Fr. Pontifex
