Well, the priest today used Michael Jackson as a starting point of his homily reagrding fear of death, and at the beginnign of the Mass mentioned how today's first reading was appropriate (of course, I noted the last line of the first reading, which was that those who belong to the devil's company experience death, so I was wondering if the priest was implying that Michael Jackson was ogf teh devil's company?).

I agree with Groo. I wouldn't go as far as saying naming them in inappropriate. Just a little odd and unnecessary.

Next week they better include Billy Mays, though. :mellow: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2009/06/28...orida_home.html

According to the GIRM (General Instruction Roman Missal)

it states that...
70. As a rule, the series of intentions is to be
a. For the needs of the Church;
b. For public authorities and the salvation of the whole world;
c. For those burdened by any kind of difficulty;
d. For the local community.
I don't think it was appropriate unless maybe it was for his local hometown. The intention should have been more broad to include all the souls who had died and touched us in some way or something like that.
