BG45
Are you implying that one cannot participate in the Mass by saying the Rosary? (N.B., I hardly ever see anyone praying the Rosary during the EF, espeically not during High Mass)
No, I'm implying that it takes away from the participation in the Liturgy to not be of entire mind while there. It is one thing, a commendable thing in my opinion, to pray the Rosary (for instance, before the Mass begins, I try to at least pray one Decade or more, depending on time). However, the Mass is where we are in the Presence of the God-Man himself; to take attention away from that fact is just, in my opinion, denying full honor to God. To not give oneself over to Christ entirely while in His Presence, even by engaging in a holy activity, seems to be intrinsically wrong. You are trying to make it sound like the EF is better than OF and therefore those who go to it are better. Then you start bringing up the faults of the OF like they help your cause. Please. Praying the Sorrowful Mysteries actually makes sense during Mass, since the passion and death of our Lord are being re-presented in the Mass. That said, I do think that the best way to participate in the Mass is to pay attention to what is going on at the altar, to say the responses, and to join in chanting the Ordinary chants of the Mass. Discussing reasons why is not a debate but a conversation. And you fight back saying how our preferences are either not right or not as great.
