Norseman82
I'll put my two cents in. Mr. West spoke at the National Catholiuc Singles Conference this year, so I heard him in person. The main focus of teh debate seems to be centered around two themes: 1) Whether he approves of sodomy. The locked thread is the first I have heard of this, and he did not speak of it at the Conference, so I really cannot comment on it. 2) His grouping together of Pope John Paul II (Wielki) and Hugh Hefner in the same sentence. He did in fact group them together in the same sentence when I heard him in person, but it was for the purpose of contrast.

I found it interesting that West has been wrestling with whether it was the right decision to appear on ABC. For one, if he is genuinely surprised that a media outlet failed to fully and accurately represent his views, I think he needs an injection of common sense. Nearly all of us know someone who's been interviewed at some point... have you ever known the media to represent their views exactly as intended? You can't even trust to words that appear within quotation marks to be accurate quotes. I thought ABC actually did a pretty good job... my biggest objection to their presentation wasn't how they handled the JPII-Hefner contrast, but how the story closed by emphasizing TOTB may not be for everyone simply because it doesn't favor contraception or homosexual acts. If you're human and have a body, theology of the body is for you. Edited June 23, 2009 by LouisvilleFan
mommas_boy
We should have a "married people only" board so that we could have an unedited debate about West's theology. That isn'tto say that there are not single people mature enough to handle this debate but it is much harder to make the married folk blush (or lust) when debating specific sexual details.
Not only are there people living the single life who are mature enough, but these singles might also benefit from such a board, since it would be helpful in their own discernments. I think that the current model (debate what you will, but keep it family-safe) works well enough.
