Why would God create something that He said He disapproves of? Where is the common sense in that?
THANKYOU Now you can see why I believe what I do.....we have the same logic but different conclusions. My homosexuality is as ingrained and innate as your heterosexuality. Homosexuality arises in all cultures, all times, all faiths and even in varying species. There is no one environmental factor such as a bad father or over protective mother to "blame" homosexuality on. There's millions and millions of them, you'll never find one common factor that could explain their sexual orientation other than evolutionary diversity. What the heck was this entire conversation for then, Norseman? "Do you really want to know?" You got my hopes up ): I was expecting something explosive. Now I'll have to just watch the simpsons for my daily dose of humour. Edited June 29, 2009 by OraProMe

Jews, Italians or Irish would make nice scapegoats. Seeing as I've got a Jewish uncle who was a hall of fame wrestler and could bend my like a paper doll and I'd someday like to date an Italian woman I think I'll go with the Irish. The Irish are responsible for homosexuality!
Why not all three! I'm half irish, my best friends italian and another close friend has a jewish stepmother! I'm not even joking You just solved it, Hassan!

You think this is a big joke, huh? Yes, I think the lack of substance in your posts is hilarious.
You have not been listening to anything anyone has been saying in the last 10 pages, have you? OK, you want something explosive, here it is (well, it's not explosive, but people who may disagree with it may take offense to it, but so what): All the examples in your previous post - like bad fathering or overprotective mothering - all share one thing in common with people who freely choose moral depravity. Do you know what is? It is simple: they all somehow can be traced back to sin and Satan. However, with God's help, sin can be resisted. That help is manifested in many forms, including Church teaching and your brothers and sisters in Christ. But, instead of welcoming people who are trying to help you work this out, you openly mock. Part of me wants to wash my hands of this and just let you go your own way and suffer the consequences, but another part of me realizes that you probably need a tough "big brother" type to play "bad cop" - not because I enjoy tormenting you, but because you are posting all sorts of incorrect stuff that needs correction - if anything, for the sake of anyone else who may be lurking. Besides, this is a Catholic forum - what in the world do you honestly expect us to do - approve of and encourage sin? You may not find my posts substantive, but my style is to ask questions designed to make you think. I don't know if you are missing it, or if in fact it is hitting home. You took offence at me saying I was created gay and that psychological research and the consensus of basically every homosexual, who'd know a lot more about it than you, didn't matter. Then when I asked you to tell me why people are gay then you couldn't answer. You said I was wrong but didn't say why or provide an alternative viewpoint other than "it's in the bible". Which sorry, doesn't wash with me. Stop trying to change the subject and make this into something it's not. 2. Read the original post. Does it sound offensive? Does it sound like I'm viciously attacking the Church or anyone here who's faithful to the magisterium? Does it sound like I'm looking for a debate? Does it sound like I'm looking for someone to "encourage and approve sin?". Seriously, I don't seek approval or validation of my homsexuality and if I did why on earth would I come to phatmass? You should stop putting words in my mouth and twisting my motives, it's rude

I'm not missing anything and there's nothing to hit home. The gist of this entire conversation is you didn't like that I said God created me gay. I asked you why I'm gay then and provided a few scientific examples. You couldn't answer.
Marie-Therese
Hassan, I happen to be a good old fashioned green-eyed, redheaded, freckled Irish girl. Similarly, the experts that you claim know a lot more than me most likely are not experts in theology. How many of them are believers and love God and are orthodox, and how many of them are secular and reject God? In other words, I openly question their theoligical competence. You may think that they know more than me, but it doesn't take a PhD in math to know 2+2=4; if a PhD in math were to try to say that 2+2 = something other than 4, a fifth grader can call him out. Some things are that simple. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but I think you have been deceived by some of the secular psychobabble out there. OraProMe
I love how you ignored the 90% of my post you had no reply to. Nice. The fact that the scientists/psychologists aren't Catholic is a good thing. It means the findings aren't biased.
