Akalyte " The Truth "

So I get my Akalyte cd in the mail a little over a week ago. I push eject on the cd player in my whip and out comes Nas's the "The Lost Tapes" and in goes Akalyte's "The Truth". As is the case with Nas (1 of my favorite mc's) I'm expecting a very opinionated Akalyte but with far less profanity.(actually there turns out to be no profanity) Also Akalyte and I share the same religion, the same Lord and submit to the same Pope. I assume all three of us love the same God. (I Hope anyways) So the first song I'm welcomed to is "[font="Arial Black"]Visonary Rap"[/font] which is a hard hitting song where Akalyte raps the chorus " [i]Righteous Roman Catholic Here We Go Again / Fronten Poetic Fashions Here To Flow Again/ Back On The Mic Akalyte Church Militant/ Rhymes Of The Realest Sent / Once Again Here To Fill You In[/i] " And that is just the chorus as Akalyte rips through the beat spitting two verses filled with church militant fire. Out of the many catchy militant raps the one I particualry like in this song is when Akalyte raps " [i]These words zoom on the track / some hear I'm catholic and assume that I'm whack/ different story once they hear the words/ beat scorchen now they here to learn feel the burn / I'm here to serve while you here to earn [/i]" And it's exactly this kind of wordplay that will have me hooked on this cd from start to finish. Not only is the wordplay militant and witty, Akalytes delivery has a melody to it that rides over the beat very nicely. And this is all done from the mans closet.

Track number 2 is titled " [font="Arial Black"]Salvation[/font] " featuring the very talented Manuel 3 singing the chorus. This is probally my favorite song on the album. And I say probally because it is honestly hard for me to pick a favorite. But it is this song and the vocals of Manuel 3 on the chorus that push's it over the top. Manuel 3 sings " [i]I want salvation, I want Heaven, I'll keep praying for the faith and the blessings, on my knees on calvary saying get the message, till I get it I wont cease until I'm in your presence[/i]" Right after this intro from M3 Akalyte comes in gracefully rapping "[i] I've done wrong but the Lord has forgave and forgot / walking out of the confessional a slave I am not/ Nolonger chained knumbed and I'm marked/ except for the cross a beacon of light and I'm lost/ It's like I'm transferred into a little child again/ purified and washed guilt free and free of sin/ the state of grace that I'm now liven in/ I hope to never depart and never sin again/ although I know I'll end up back in the mercy seat/ when the tempter comes searching for me /I fail again and again/But I'll be back you see/ I want my salvation and on my knees I'll plead[/i]." It's this kind of honesty and self examination that makes Akalyte a true chrstian artist. This song will hopefully breakthrough to christian and catholic radio and it would be a loss to the Body Of Christ and the world if it didnt.The beat is amazing and if I'm correct made by Akalyte. The dude is just as talented on the beats as he is the rhymes.

After the catholic christian classic "[font="Arial Black"]Salvation[/font]" we get to hear " [font="Arial Black"]Where Did The Bible Come From[/font]" featuring the catholic hiphop legend the Apologist aka D-Major on the chorus. This song has became one of my favorites and Akalyte is just spitting knowledge the whole way through. The beat is crazy and Akalyte defends the Church only like he can do. At the very end of the song Akalyte raps " [i]This is for those who think the Bible just fell from Heaven/ Barely people ask the question of where did we get it/ Straight from the Roman Catholic Church seperated brethren/[/i] I can't help but smile when I hear this and it just makes me praise God for the talent God has given Akalyte. I will also add this song is very charitable all the while very militant in reminding everyone exactly where the Bible came from.

Track 4 is " [font="Arial Black"]New Life [/font]" with Dj Servus on the cuts. All I can say about this song is you gotta go listen to it. Akalyte dedicates the song to his newborn son and I can't give it the justice it deserves in this review. The chorus is on point with a sample of a woman using the letters that spell "L-O-G-A-N" (Akalytes Son) to say what each letter stands for. Akalyte's flow on this song is flawless as usual and the beat is my favorite on the album. If "[font="Arial Black"]Salvation[/font]" isn't my favorite song this one is. I like it more and more everytime I hear it. "[font="Arial Black"]True Revolution[/font]" with D-Major is track number 5. This song is fire and D-Major kills his verse. I'm not prepared to say he outshines Akalyte but hearing them both spit verses on the same track is special and they both deliver militant raps. D-Major spits " [i]They be haten me/ because I'm not afraid to remain or be/ a Roman Catholic when I say the Creed/ And I dont really care what they state or they make of me/ I only care what God think for He is who created me[/i]/ D-Major is one of the illest doing it and I can't wait to hear what he has in store for the future.

[font="Arial Black"]All nations [/font](track number 6 ) is probally my least favorite track. Although I have listened to this one the least and it may grow on me. Track number 7 " [font="Arial Black"]Stars[/font] " is crazy and Akalyte is taking the culture of death that rules television and entertianment head on. He holds no punches and this is what seperates Akalyte from alot of other rappers out there. It's his brilliance and word play mixed with his message that contains no lies. I'm not going to quote lyrics from this song but cop the album and listen to the man tell it how it is. Overall I give this album 4 and half stars out of 5. My only complaints with it was it wasn't 7 tracks longer. It is very well produced and all tracks were mixed and mastered by Dust of Phatmass. If you don't have this pick it up. Also pick up the mans other projects here at Phatmass. I'll be reviwing his other work later God willing. If you are a fan of real hiphop then there is no way you are going to be able to stop listening to Akalyte's " The Truth." And for 7 dollars I don't know what you're waiting on.
