Theoketos
I have had a "Hotmail" account since about 96, and until recently I have no problems with the service. But Now As some of you are aware there are all these crazy dating adds featuring half naked women. I really want to keep this account as I have about thousand contacts and very little spam going to it. But I am not sure who I can write to complain about this junk. I think that if there is no means to change it I will have to get a new email account for the sake of modesty and charity. If there is a means to change I wish to enlist the Pham to write emails! Does any one know of an MSN complaint department? *looks to the hippie activist in the room*
phatcatholic
i don't think sending a complaint to microsoft is going to change anything. i see the following options: 1. i think that if u buy the premium email service, the ads go away 2. transfer your contanct info to another email service, like yahoo. i don't remember seeing any ads there that would offend you. #1 takes money. #2 takes time. in my opinion, its worth it if it means protecting yourself from the "occasions of sin" pax christi, phatcatholic
Theoketos
You are right about transfering contacts, and maybe it will not change anything but I am called to be faithful not successful. I am done with Hotmail
Iacobus
I use Hotmail and the ads annoy me too. So I resized my screen so that when I open hotmail unless I scroll around I never see the ads. I also think there are some programs you can get that block the ads.
peach_cube
There is definitely a way to block just those ads... although I don't know how. But all the ads are blocked on the computers where I teach....so it must be through some type of fiddler?
Aloysius
2 coolest places i've found for email http://jesusanswers.com (although they're ALWAYS buggin you with "is there pornography on your PC?" but i can't afford the program theyre tryin to reccomend.) another one http://www.catholic.org that's phatter in my humble opinion. i'm AlGonzaga@Catholic.org
Iacobus
LOL, Al don't buy that program even if you have the money. I am not sure what one it is but most of them operate the same. What they do is search your C: drive for words that are "bad" in the file names. One of my desktop wallpapers called BlueBalls (I DIDN'T name it, lol) of two blue balls bouncing was picked up and the program wanted to delete it becuase it had the word "balls." All those things are picked up so if you really want to clean house, go find *.jpg or *.bmp or *.mov and check every hit that you don't know, lol. ryanmeyersmusic
if you're on a windoze computer, outlook express comes standard and can connect to Hotmail without ads... Even better, if you have Outlook (MS Office Edition) you can do the same with lots more features... I never have to look at an ad for hotmail unless I'm away from home... crusader1234
Hey, I think that the advertisements get annoying and sometimes are a bit too risque, but there are a number of wayst o avoid this. -Using outlook to open email -Ignoring them (not that hard) -Downloading an msn compatible messenger such as 'Trillian' Any other ideas? I actually decided to email microsoft about this. Let's see what they have to say.
cmotherofpirl
Run Norton or cookiewall to block them. Oulook is not a secure system for email. go somewhere like Catholicexchange.com that has free email.

Guest WookieLNX
Follow this link to learn how to block 90% of all banner adds. Basically the file that it tells you to download will make the URL for the ads invalid. The browser will not be able to find the banners, so.... NO BANNERS!!! This will work on most webpages not just on hotmail ads. Let me know if you have problems with it.
