Paladin D
There is a worst case scenario in this as well, unfortunately. If they don't find anything where they think, then it is indicative of something worse, like a bacterial infection in the colon, or worse yet, a sign of colon cancer. So, please continue the prayers. Storm the gates of Heaven. I have many people praying, saying Masses, and the like. It pays to be a priest in these situations thank you for everything so far. God bless Fr. Brian
I'll continue praying for you, Fr. Brian.

Theologian in Training
Well, they think the source of the infection was, indeed, the bite on my tongue. They have me on heavy antibiotics and have done another blood culture with the hope that it comes back negative. They will not let me leave the hospital until that, indeed, is the case. I will also have to continue antibiotics by IV after the hospital with what they explained was a fanny pack that would periodically (every 4 hours) inject me for 2-4 weeks, more 4 weeks than 2. thanks again for the prayers. Keep em' coming God bless Fr. Brian

CatherineM
At least knowing what is wrong has got to make you feel some better already.
Donna
Father, Ditto prayers. Glad you reached out...couldn't help recalling a sermon my daughter told me about recently, that a certin soul asked his angel guardian to make him bite his tongue if he ever veered into saying anything uncharitable about someone... ...please consider taking acidopholus during these rounds of anti-biotics so that the "good" bacteria are re-introduced (thinking recovery/longer term). I'm not sure the two should be taken together in your situation, the pharmacist would know - at least mine would, he's worth 4 docs put together! Donna
Another thought: laughter the best medicine I'd highly recommend The Phattest Loser (youtube or blog or even twitter) Or Chad Vadar (youtube) ps - no I'm not trying to fill the open mic board w/ "last reply" like I used to, but it just seems that way right this second... Theologian in Training
Donna, They are already giving me that with all the antibiotics, and certain sites like twitter and youtube are blocked on the network. So far, I have just been playing the waiting game. They took new cultures...now we wait. Thank you all for the prayers God bless Fr. Brian

Brother Adam
Nothing to sooth the soul like the Simpsons :-D At least you didn't have it as bad as a friends mom of mine. She ended up with an infection in her spine that they couldn't figure out. She deteriorated in the hospital until she was completely paralyzed. Experts flew in and it became a House episode like drama. She is still in a wheelchair to this day from the infection though is slowly gaining mobility back. Prayers for a quick recovery!
