Veritas
My husband recently made his fourth degree in May. When he joined our local Knights council, he was the youngest member by at least 15 years. In the four years following, there have been an influx of younger men, and the council is growing! His council was rated the top one in Florida a year or so ago, based on their charitable activities, amount of money raised to support those studying for the priesthood, local pregnancy centers, the Special Olympics, and other local charities supporting the mentally handicapped. Their magazine "Columbia" is completely pro-life and faithful to the Magisterium. It's an honor to be part of such an organization. Plus their life insurance is awesome.
+ Yes, my boyfriend sells life insurance for them. He chose to work for them because they have the best insurance products and policies. The fact that they're just awesomely Catholic as well, is pretty amazing. He loves his job. :-)

I had to really nudge him to join.

Paladin D
I'm a 4th Degree Sir Knight who joined the Knights of Columbus in 2005. I was very drawn to their sense of service to the Church, both at the local level and national/international level. They are a very pro-life and pro-magisterium organization, with a sense of brotherhood and patriotism to one's country. I have nothing but good experiences with the Order. I struggle constantly with remembering that marriage is my first vocation and the various ministries in the parish in which I am involved come second to her. So...pray for her conversion so I can be kaniggit and carry a sword and wear a feathery hat!
I am in a very similar situation. As a matter of fact, my wife is not even Christian. I just recently became Catholic myself anyway (actually, being confirmed June 14th).

It's an interview process and then training and licensure. I think it can be fairly competitive depending on the area. It's hard work, but one can be successful if they serve their clients well. It's really a ministry and he loves it -but it requires a lot of focus and determination.

Lounge Daddy
My significant other just went through the Fourth Degree. ... SO, MY QUESTION TO YOU: 1. ARE YOU (see poll question) 2. WHY OR WHY NOT?
Congrats to your man and yourself. What an honor! Yes, I am a Knight. 3rd degree. I tend to be fairly introverted -- I prefer to spend time with myself and my family. But it's good to make myself spend time with other guys from time to time. So when I do, I want that time to be quality time with quality people. Also, its a good example for our kids to see. Good Catholic men, and solid Catholic families. We have a parish council that I switched over to. It's made such a huge positive impact on the entire parish. Very enriching.

ilovechrist
i am one of the few that changed ranks from the Columbian Squires to the Knights upon turning 18, and am presently a Third Degree. i have been invited to join the ranks of the Fourth, but due to other commitments at college (particularly Household) I decided to wait until after undergrad to pursue such a venue. BG45
I voted no, because I'm not. Funny enough, I was asked more than once to join while I was a Baptist. Since converting, not a peep from anyone.

Sometime people in the mens or womens organizations don't go after converts immediately because we don't want to overwhelm them at the beginning.
