tinytherese
Psychologically speaking, if you smile even though you are not feeling happy for a considerable amount of time after a while you really will start to feel happy even if there is no reason for it. Also, listening to happy and or encouraging music can help. There are also praise and worship music to listen too or attending eucharistic adoration. CatherineM
What works for me is a walk in the sun with my husband, playing some disc golf, going to my favorite Eritrean restaurant, or anything that makes me smile. Sometimes we get so bound up in what we should do, that we forget to make time for what we love to do.

Sparky
You guys don't know how much your suggestions have helped. IDK, it's been really weird lately. I usually can't stand country music for any length of time - yet I spent most of last week listening to it. I usually can't stand Christian music - found myself looking for O.C. Supertones and the W's and other stuff like that. I'm really excited about heading off to school in August, but it seems that everything is just trying to hold me down and pick me up at the same time. I'm so confuzzled!!! Work has been more and more aggravating, and the home life is getting strained as well. I'm really ready for school (and I hate schoolwork). There's more to the situation, but that just adds to the frustration with everything. Thanks for all the prayers so far, and please don't stop! CatherineM
I had to stop listening to country music. It always made me sad or depressed.
scardella
Listening to country music is one of the best things that ever happened to me. There. I said it.
VoTeckam
Depending on the deepth of your "funk" or dpression, sometiems is it just as simple as setting your mind on getting over it. Decide you are done responding to thing negatively and try to focus on all of the blessings in your life. Turn to prayer. If you already pray regularly committ to praying longer and even change the venue. God would love the chance to guide you to happiness and fulfillment. Sometimes we just have to try new things to get our prayer lives back on track. I know each person's situation is different so this advice may not mean anythin to you. I will pray for you! Sojourner
Exercise, at least 20 minutes a day. Exercise causes your body to produce chemicals that make you happy, so you are better physically and mentally.
icelandic_iceskater
ditto everyone who mentioned exercise. It helps a lot, no matter how severe the depression. Especially if it's out in the fresh air and sunshine. The vitamin D + endorphins = ooh, that's another thing. Make sure you're getting enough vitamin D. And get out of the house and keep busy... leave little time for self moping. Don't watch too much tv or spend too much time doing pointless things online... it seems to make it easier to fall into an indifferent or apathetic attitude. And if you think at all that you may be severely clinically depressed- go talk to your doctor. The less time you have to get comfortable in your depression, the better. prayers
