Driving On Sunday

I am about to start "remedial" driving lessons--I have my license but haven't driven seriously for almost a year for various reasons. I also get very worked up about driving because of car accidents I have experienced and read about. Today my mom was on the phone with my driving teacher, setting up a lesson for today, but I started yelling and getting angry (which I now regret) because I didn't want to drive. So my mom set up the lesson for tomorrow, but then I regretted my hissy-fit even more because I would have rather gotten it over with today and I don't want my driving stress to invade the Lord's Day.

Given the circumstances, would it be sinful or even just not a good idea for me to drive on a Sunday? Please don't advise me to ask a priest; after the above incident I went to Confession only to find that there was no Confession due to a wedding. (Therefore, you're also welcome to speculate if it was a mortal sin for me to have screamed at my mom like that.)

Honestly, I don't understand the difficulty. You can drive on Sundays, sometimes it is necessary to drive to get somewhere. So, I would say it is fine. Indeed, Sunday is to be a day of rest, but sometimes, we have to be careful taking it to the utmost extreme.

BTW, just because there was a wedding does not mean you should not seek the advice of a priest. We do have busy schedules, but, normally, weddings end before the beginning of confessions, well, ideally they do.

God bless
