Ok,

I'm still a lurker on this site. I'm usually too overwhelmed with school to post very much. However, I read posts on PM daily, and I've been deeply troubled and saddened by the recent news that Bud Macfarlane has file for divorce from Bai.

Without the Mary Foundation and Catholicity.com, I would not have the faith that I do today. I was a typical college student doing all the stupid things college males do (well, almost). I happened across their website when I was questioning some things, and the rest, as they say, is history. I like to say that they threw me in the microwave when I was lukewarm.

I know everyone is saying prayers are needed, but lets make a CONCERTED effort, my friends. This is just wrong. This cannot happen, and we must implore divine intervention on this one and place all of our trust in God. We need as MANY people to join in as possible. If you plan to join, REPLY TO THIS POST, and REPOST THIS ON AS MANY CATHOLIC MESSAGE BOARDS THAT YOU CAN!

The novena for troubled marrriages is the Novena to St. Anne. It is 9 day novena. Keep faith in this novena, they are SO powerful, especially when more people join. The novena to St. Anne is a simple recitation of a prayer followed by our stated intention which is then followed by an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory be. I suggest a full rosary afterward. I will start Monday, March 29 and continue through April 6. Below are the daily recitations that we must pray. Please spread this like wildfire. PLEASE!

NOVENA TO SAINT ANNE
THE FAMILY, A CHALLENGE!

First Day

GOD SAID YES TO THE FAMILY

"Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and master it" (Gn 1, 27-28)

Dear Saint Anne, I love you as my spiritual grandmother. I entrust to your care all the families of the earth, united or broken. I pray especially for my own family.

One day, the Creator said yes to families. He was saying yes to love, life and fidelity. He was saying no to counterfeits.

In paradise, God created man and woman in His own image, and told them to multiply. As He was creating the couple and the family, He realized that it was very good (Gn 1, 31).

Saint Anne, my family, like all families, was meant by the Almighty to be a nest of true love. But you know the problems I face in my home, our physical and moral sufferings.

I love my children. Protect them from becoming enslaved to sex, drugs and alcohol. They may easily neglect Jesus and the Church. I commend them to your care.

Help me, help couples and families find strength in prayer, in the sacraments, in the support of a Christian community. Amen.

Second Day

THE MARVELS OF TRUE LOVE

Saint Anne, modern society has influenced the family. Yet, even though marriages often fail, even though many families fall apart, marriage and the family are destined to be a source of love and happiness, where children are well educated.

God created us in His own likeness and image. He ordained that man join himself to his wife and become with her one body. God made them fruitful (Gn 2, 24; 1, 28).

Ever since the beginning of humanity, God entered into a covenant with us, married people, and with our families. He promised to help us.

Saint Anne, my marriage may be broken, my problems may be great. Still, I take courage, because God is close to me. And you too, Saint Anne!

I am aware that my family must pray. The Lord should occupy the first place in my home, in our hearts as a couple and as parents, as well as in the hearts of our children. The crucifix must hold a place of honor.

Saint Anne, you were the loving wife of Saint Joachim, a mother devoted to Mary, a grandmother so loving for Jesus! Saint Anne, protect my home, my family and all those I love! Amen.

Third Day

THE FAMILY: LOVE AND LIFE

Dear Saint Anne, our society presents many types of families: people who simply live together, single-parent families, reconstructed families...

Like Christ, the Church teaches that love in marriage must be lasting and faithful, and open to life.

Faithful to God's purpose, true families still exist, thanks to exemplary couples and parents. There are numerous homes where faith, joy and love prevail. Even in broken marriages, there are wonderful people doing their best.

True love is not made up of fleeting pleasures. It means a total gift to the other. It implies perfect sharing. Such love holds on, in spite of everything. It engenders life. Is there anything more precious than a child?

Saint Anne, watch over all families, even when there is tragedy and broken hearts. Take care of my own family, no matter what happened in the past, no matter what it is today. I worry so much about my children.

Saint Anne, I rely on your protection for my children and grandchildren. Obtain for me and mine good health and happiness, financial security and mutual understanding. Amen.

Fourth Day

THE FAMILY, FROM DREAM TO REALITY

Saint Anne, remind my children and all young people that marriage and family need preparation. Marriage is not simply physical love and sexual relations. Marriage implies the never ending knowledge of the other.

A happy family, such is the dream of every couple! The couple's energies gradually become a wonderful human and Christian adventure.

The early dream of marriage may become reality, even though a handicapped child is born. This child tightens the bonds of the family, and is often a ray of sunshine. Even though he is infirm, he has a right to live.

The early dream may become a reality, even though parents face sterility. Maybe they can adopt a child. They can help other people. There are so many ways to give life!

In order to realize my dream, I must share intimate moments of prayer with my companion in life. Love becomes stronger when God is present.

Saint Anne, my family needs you. Give us better health. Take good care of us.

Transform the dream of my youth into reality. Amen.

Fifth Day

COUPLES ARE NOT ALONE

Saint Anne, we are told to respect ecology: nature around us; we must also respect nature within us: true love. The family must remain a stable and unbroken community of love.

As well, a family must never forget its social responsibilities. It must never close the door to other people.

My family, like all families, must enlarge itself and serve society.

We, as a loving couple, are not alone on the earth. We must do our share to create a better society.

Couples helping other couples are powerful. Parents who collaborate with other parents are influential. Together, we may prompt the Government to establish better laws. We may secure progress in health, education and culture. In regard to the mass media, we may fight pornography and violence, especially against women and children. We can suggest good programs of recreation and information.

Saint Anne, obtain for my family a spirit of Christian charity, and also health and happiness. Amen.

Sixth Day

THE CHURCH AND THE FAMILY

Marriage and family are two natural institutions coming from God Himself.

I know, Saint Anne, that the Church does not give the name of families to all types of unions; the family is not just an association of individuals living together. To raise children, there is a normal need of a man and a woman, of a stable and responsible couple.

Every child to be born must be protected from abortion; he needs love and security. He should not become an orphan while his parents are still alive... To give life implies more than childbirth!

Dear Saint Anne, moral values and a peaceful surrounding are a necessity for every young person. If not, he may be led to a life of crime, alcohol, drugs, even suicide.

No family is perfect - mine is not perfect! - but it is within a family that a child develops its personality. If I am a single parent, if I am separated or divorced, a widow or a widower, I will pray and I will do my best and God will provide for the needs of my children.

Saint Anne, for the sake of our children, bless families. Obtain for me, procure for my children and grandchildren faith, health, work and peace. Amen.

Seventh Day

AND WHEN THERE IS SEPARATION

Saint Anne, marriage must reveal God's tenderness and fidelity. This is not always the case. We are selfish; we seek pleasure at all costs.

Saint Anne, what is happening to committed love and happy families? What is happening to my own marriage? What is happening to my children who may neglect the Church, who are separated, or who do not value married life? Dreams turn into nightmares. Divorce becomes common place. Communication ends, if it ever existed... We, married people, forget the grace of the sacrament and the necessity of forgiveness. Children are the first victims.

Saint Anne, ward off the breaking up of marriages. If I am separated or divorced, enable me and all separated couples to live in a Christian way the trial we endure, without unnecessary guilt.

May separated couples find their strength in prayer, in the sacraments, in helpful associations, in charitable activities within the Church.

Saint Anne, may all Christians adopt a friendly attitude towards young people. May I be a witness of Christ’s love to all those who are separated or divorced.

Saint Anne, help couples in trouble or afflicted by divorce. Come to my own rescue. Amen.

Eighth Day

THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY, A ROAD TO HOLINESS

Saint Anne, there are young people who renounce marriage for celibacy, either in religious life, or in the world. They give themselves to the Lord and to the service of others. God blesses their generosity and the Church praises them. If I am young, help me discover my vocation.

I rejoice that couples have their own call to holiness. The sacrament of marriage enriches them with the necessary graces. The sanctity of their union reaches their children. Every family, even my family, broken or not, should be a little Church, one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

At the wedding of Cana, the Lord Jesus proved His love for couples (Jn 2, 1-11). He celebrated marriage. He insisted on total fidelity. "What God has united, nobody must divide" (Mt 19, 6-13). The alliance of a couple in marriage helps us understand God's love for us, a love faithful to death.

The love we have for each other as a couple, our forgiveness for any wrongdoing, our dedication to our children, our care for the needy, all these things help us grow in holiness.

Saint Anne, remind couples, united or separated, remind all families, remind me, that we are called to holiness. And, dear Saint Anne, always listen to my prayers for better health and perfect happiness. Amen.

Ninth Day

THE FAMILY MUST EVANGELIZE FAMILIES

Saint Anne, my family needs the Church, and the Church needs my family.

The Pope proclaims the necessity of a new evangelization. He teaches that the Christian family must evangelize other families.

Saint Anne, may the members of my family show true love for one another. May we be witnesses of Christian faith and charity.

I am conscious that family values go adrift... Saint Anne, may every Christian family become a witness of true family values, especially to broken families or for those separated from their loved ones. Evangelization of families is necessary today, as true love is drying up, as families are breaking up, as faith is not nourished.

Remind grandparents, remind me if I am a grandparent, of our role and duty, within our families, to transmit faith and Christian values. Our responsibility is greater than ever!

Saint Anne, while I pray to you for families, especially for my own, I recommend to you my health, the health and happiness of all those I love. Our needs are so great! Thank you, dear Saint Anne! Amen.

I would be mroe than happy to join in this Novena. We need to do all we can to protect families. Pray for the MacFarlane family, and also thier ministry, that this bump in the road doesn't ruin their ministry.
