Importing wives from other countries? One of my husband's sisters is married to a Chinese-American. Both his parents are immigrants from China. Lucky for him ... he might still be single and childless if they'd stayed in rural China. Instead he has a lovely wife and four beautiful kids. (I will try to find a source online... I learned this in sociology a few years ago). Not only are their fewer african american men than african american women they are also much more likely to marry outside of their race than any other group in America. However, there are not enough african american women to "even things out" in china so we can forget match making attempts. African American women tend to be pretty tall, and well, chinese men are kinda small.... any reasons on why there aren't enough african american men?? desertwoman Posted June 5, 2009 Share Posted June 5, 2009 A lot of us will not be married because we out number african american men due to the fact that many are in jail, and are being killed by disease and so forth. Other black women, like my self, are professionals and we are least likely to find a mate of our same race because there are few black men in professional fields. Since black men are taught that to get out of the hood, you gotta become a singer or be in another form of entertainment, this is where they place all of their ambition. Black females are taught to excel as well and not to take no for an answer. That people are going to be hard on you because you are black plus you are a woman, so take no prisoners. Because of this, you see more black females in colleges, and graduating at an alarming rate than black men. When we have accomplished are goals, many of us are too scary, or too over bearing so we are left alone. The sad thing is that many black females who made it are still trapped in the color code and would not date outside of their "race" so they end up with a dude with issues and who would rather live off of her and so forth. Some professional black females are over bearing and would make their man feel like croutons, and no man no mater what color would stand for that...so they are left alone. I fit in the scary category. I'm a laid back kind of gal, I'm down to earth, but as soon as I mention my qualifications and my work ethic guys back off. It's a sad state of affairs, but tis true. This is an on going discussion in the black community especially with black women who would love to get married and have a black man. Our situation isn't like the Chinese men who have to buy brides because their parents were more concerned with keeping their family lineage. Hopefully, crime doesn't start to go out of control there, because if you have a population of single men, and hardly any women, what are the men going to do? They have a job, they have a home...or what about the men who don't have a job or think it's pointless to do so since there isn't a chance of him having a family anyway. My brain can be a pain sometimes. Of course in America it would be due to the large percentage of African American men who are in jail or never make it to their 21st birthday due to drugs or violence. I understand when people tell you that you should enjoy being single for the time being, but if being single is not your vocation, then don't settle for it.
