RedSnapper
Wow. That's pretty deep thinking there. Somewhere there is a quote of Mel Gibson saying that its the corruption of the most innocent and best (paraphrased). To see a baby being comforted, etc. then to see the baby turn and is really like, so ugly. It shows the evil of the devil perverting the good. That was a wonderful profound post on the table and then Barabbus and Jesus. Very good things to ponder. AMDG, RS
Caitlin
Another theory on the baby is that it's the Antichrist. Also, it's an "if you had been my child you never would have suffered..." sort of deal. And, also a lot of what Redsnapper said as well.
luciana
Also, it could be that it's like a blasphemous mocking of the Madonna w/ Jesus image, especially how the veil part of Satan's outfit kind of covers the demon baby and it looks like a touching scene till the baby turns around. notice how the movie also portays Mary and satan opposing each other, when they are walking along the Via Delarosa on opposite sides. I think the scene can have several layers of meaning I wonder if this is from the visions of Catherine Emmerich. i have to look it up in the book and see. Red SNapper, I think that quote's from an interview he had w/ Christianity today mag, or some other protestant magazine.
RedSnapper
Oh ok. Thanks. So now I have not studied about the anti-Christ much. Is he supposed to be a real man?? My husband thinks its Michael Eisner. haaa!
luciana
Did anybody else notice this? I mentioned it previously in this thread:
One really cool thing I think I noticed is a cross in the sky. It could have been my imagination , but when it goes to one of Jesus' flashbacks of the Last Supper, a cross of light seems to be in the sky. It was right before it goes to the scene with them bringing the bread to the table at the Last Supper.
Also, I noticed 2 points when Jesus looks like he sheds tears: At the mid. of the night trial, after he says how he is the Son of God, the Messiah, the IAM, and they all shout verdict of death, He cries before they start maltreating Him. Also, when he is talking to Pilate the first time and says he is King and the Truth and all who hear Him hear truth. there are probably more, but that's what I noticed. OpusDei
There are a few instances which just drives me to tears just thinking of them: The part where the one thief on the cross askes for forgiveness (It's also the part i the bible which won me over to Christianity!) The parts where Jesus tells the twelve of how they will be hated for his name sake & where He instituted the Eucharist. I already in tears again!
