Grave Sin Vs. Mortal Sin

To be brief, I did something which consisted of grave matter, but I'm almost certain that I did not give my deliberate consent. I don't want to go into detail, but that is my honest opinion. Truly, I don't think that I am in mortal sin for that reason. But today at Mass I was reading over the guidelines for receiving Communion and I noticed that it says that "a person conscious of grave sin" should not receive.

Given the above, am I conscious of grave sin? I didn't receive because I didn't want the stain of sacrilege possibly on my soul, and I will probably seek out a priest to confess just in case (ironically enough, I just confessed yesterday, and then this happened). So I guess my question is...can one be conscious of grave sin without being in mortal sin?

It would be difficult to answer unless the "grave sin" is known. Please don't publicize it, but if it is something bothering your conscience, then you might be better off going to a priest to confess it.

God bless
